OVERVIEW: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I hired the Vinyl Bar private function room for my 40th birthday party, on Saturday 27th September 2025. It was a really, really cool venue and a great party!

The cost for a full Saturday night hire was VERY reasonable. There's a very good AV system, no minimum spend, a built-in DJ booth, private bar that was staffed as needed with 1-2 people always on duty.

Elsa was attentive and responsive to my questions, and very friendly. I was able to go to the venue ahead of time, and plan things as much as I needed. Everyone had a great time, and complimented various aspects.

The event went really well overall! So much so, that some suggestions and indirect intro's I made have led to new events that will be held there.

SOUND SYSTEM, MUSIC, CONNECTIVITY & SCREEN MEDIA: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The speakers are great quality, and are all hooked into the venue-provided amplifier, which gave me loads of control over my own music. My DJ's were able to plug their decks in, and get straight on with their sets. Although I had my own DJs, Elsa offered to let me hire one of the 8+ she has on rotation for the venue, at a fair price. A microphone was provided and set up, so at speech time, I was just able to give one quickly without and difficulty. I was able to bring and set up my own disco lights; and able to use the big screen TV. It was very good quality (I was also able to test it with my laptop ahead of time). There's good 4g connection, and full free WiFi was provided with a router in the room.

FOOD: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic! There was a range of things I could do, from full sit down dinners, to buffet service, to canapes. I provided canapes for my guests. Despite me needing to delay bringing out food, it was REALLY good quality, freshly made, and well presented. My guests complimented its quality to me later. Delivery was well split, with the main heavier food (Burgers and samosas) going first, before more calamari and breaded mozzarella sticks were brought out later. The full amount that was promised was provided I was allowed to bring in my own Birthday Cake. The kitchen kept this to one side for me, keeping it fresh until it was ready to bring out.

DRINKS: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent private bar, that offered most of the drinks menu range, and always had someone on duty downstairs. Full cocktail mixing and service required being upstairs, but this was explained well in advance. Good prices. The cost of a double spirit + mixer was lower than numerous places charge for a single + mixer.

DECORATION AND ROOM VIBE: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The room is SUPER cool. You can see from various pictures, the LPs all over the ceiling, the vintage chiq, and the built in flower walls lend the whole place a great atmosphere. Two tiers of paid decoration option were provided, and I was able to have the big lit numbers, as well as make use of some furnishings to make a basic centrepiece at a fair price. I was given free reign to do my own decorating - within reason - with no additional charges or issues. I did so using MEMES, for a pretty original and memorable end result :D Tables and chairs were provided and placed strategically, as was the Canapé tables, and cake table. There's also a simple built in set of coat hooks, and you can get an additional coat and hat stand. So things are safe, but there's no faffing about with a cloakroom

SERVICE: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ All the staff were really friendly, did their jobs well: kitchen, bar, room setup, audio etc. I got help hooking things up to my laptop for the warm-up, and a demo of the Amplifier functions One small criticism was that things were a bit TOO keen on clearing up glasses. I had a few birthday drinks bought for me, that I had to put down whilst doing host duties, and were gone when I went to get them again. It didn't happen much though. Had a event here and the management were awful. If I had known how they would have treated people I would have not hired the venue. When setting up on March 14th the man who dealt with myself and the decorations team was very rude. Secondly the owner who is female agreed for the decorations lady to collect her items the following day at 8am, which I had proof of. The venue wasn’t even open at that time for the lady to collect her stuff then when the lady called to organise a time the manager began speaking very aggressive and rudely towards her and was not professional atall. The owner then called myself and still continued to be rude, even threatening to put the ladies equipment outside which is completely disgusting. As a establishment I can not believe this was her behaviour. Even when I made it clear I have proof to confirm she said 8am the following day for collection she still began to be rude (the manager is ELSA btw) I myself had to go and sort the situation out which was very annoying, she did not even apologise. Even whilst getting there it was a big whoha for no reason as i still left the equipment there for the lady to collect so the owner purposely but everyone in distress for no reason. I’ll never return back to this venue again, and the owner should be ashamed of herself.

Amazing venue! Perfect size for the 70 people I invited. Staff were very accommodating and the decoration they provided at extra cost was perfect. Party is in a low ceiling basement so made it feel more intimate. There was an entrance for the guest on one side of the venue and another entrance on the other side leading to the toilets which was convenient. They provided a coat stand for guests at the back of the room and moved furniture out the room to create more space. There are a couple of tables and chairs outside, upstairs for the smokers. Prices for drinks were a little pricey considering it's Streatham and would have love for the party to of gone on for longer than 2am but overall the party was amazing, I cannot complain. I had an all white party and I was the only one wearing red so you can set your own theme. They kept my cake in a fridge for me until it was ready to be brought out. I hired my own DJ and DJ equipment although they can provide that for you. Oh and after having one too many drinks, I accidentally left all my cards and gifts but they held onto them for me until I was ready to pick them up. Well worth every penny and not overpriced at all.
