I was walking past this bakery mesmerised by how good their pastries looked and such cheap prices. So we went inside and it was one bad decision I should’ve never done: We went inside around closing time accidentally, so the atmosphere was very cold and very rushing, the lady serving us was okay enough but she did apparently give my friend a VERY horrible stare for standing in her way while she was walking around closing the store, which reading the reviews seems like a normal thing that happens here. In there window we saw many delicious things so while my friend chose a brownie I chose a cake slice. After paying the worker seemed relieved and was quite nice then wishing a happy evening upon us which I think was the best thing about this experience. It only goes downhill from here. We walk out after paying and we sit down and try such beautiful looking treats. They didn’t taste beautiful, they tasted stale- which I let slide because it was at the end of the day. We first tried the brownie: it was stale and tasteless. That wasn’t even the worst thing that brownie did to my friend. My friend took a bite and bit into a hair. A black hair strand emerged from the brownie which couldn’t of been my friends as her hair isn’t black. She broke off another part of the brownie to find more hair strands. I find this quite insulting because you have a bakery and it’s like you don’t know basic hygiene. Then their cake slice. I got the chocolate slice because it looked good and moist but it was too moist. The top of the cake was stale and had a slight taste of cocoa powder which was the nicest thing about that cake. The middle of it was disappointing- I believe that it was undercooked because the middle was so sticky and not cakey at all. It tasted like a cold wet pile of cake. Then I found another hair inside my cake?? I tried to look at the brightest part of all these misfortunes with the closing time and also the hair strand saying it’s probably a fly away- then there was more and more which cannot be excused so it seems like this place just needs to look at...
Read moreI like the products the deli has got, even if nothing ground breaking, in a neighbourhood as streatham it is well stocked of good products from the continent. Real pity the staff has absolutely no clue what customer service is, I have never ever seen a staff member’s smile, actually most of tge times the feel is the client is a nuisance. However for products thai I like i can be happy to close one or both the eyes and carry on. What though will stop me from going there is that as everyone else i work, and the time i can make it to the deli after work is around 30/60 minutes before closing time. Well i just gave up, if you get there one hour or less before closing they will not serve you anything that requires a machine, may be hams to be cut or a coffee, because they already cleaned the machines. That’s a common practice in hospitality trying to save some precious time to your work and therefore be home a bit earlier, however if you are open YOU GIVE SERVICE. So in the unlikely case someone is coming to ask for ham and the machine is already clean you do what every var/restaurant staff would do: pretend to smile, cut the ham and then as soon as the client is off you let all your frustrations, swearing and beating out. Not whilst you are open though. I mean the deli has great reviews a part quite a few one stars and they are all for the same reason, bad service from the girls. What I don't like about this place is their lack of costumer service, they never remember you as a regular client, they always hurry you to pay even when there is not other clients on the Kew .o One time I dropped on the floor a little carton box and one of the lady that works there for many years knows me as a regular client who spend lots of money in their delicatessen weekly she screamed at me with a rude manner upset that if I brake something they have to pay for it!
