Humdingers Hornsey — Restaurant in London

I don’t really know what to make of this place. It’s not wholly bad, but it’s not great either.

I don’t work too far away so pop in from time to time, and the quality of products has been consistently variable. There always seems to be different staff members, which can make it hard to build a rapport. Majority of them are fantastic (shout out to the Portuguese team member who is always chatty and friendly), only rarely have I encountered someone that wasn’t but it’s the standard of the hot drinks being prepared that is variable by them.

Honestly - please stop serving hot drinks the temperature of the sun’s surface. Multiple times I’ve burnt my mouth/tongue on them. Most recently the hot drink I purchased was at drinking temperature about 30+ minutes after purchase.

Quality of baked goods has also been mixed. Sometimes they’re great, other times too dry / not fresh?

Good range of sandwiches.

Plenty of seating out and inside, though the overall vibe is somehow… off balance. I don’t know if it’s the mismatch of paintings / furniture, but for me something just doesn’t quite “work”.

In summary, some visits are better...

Gone today since they started with the shop. Find they are selling a beer my husband loves. So take a bottle and gone to pay. They tell me it's £5 (price wasn't shown at the shelf). Ask if the price they are telling me is correct in disbelief, as that's the price for a whole pack in m&s. Told them sorry, left it. Not coming back, don't like to be robbed. EDIT I understand that small independent businesses have always slightly higher prices,but even when I buy this same item in small shops it's always been at a maximum of around £2.50 that I've always happily paid. I keep thinking that £5 is extortionate, even if charity is always...

A much needed and long-awaited addition to the area! This coffee shop not only has the basics covered (beverages of the caffeinated variety) but also had super tasty treats and ACTUALLY HEALTHY lunch options!! (Think keto-friendly salads that are filling enough to be a meal and also excellent quiches with side salads.) The vibe is also great as others have said, with great tunes, decor that's at the same time bright and cozy, and lots of plants make for a truly refreshing spot you'll want to hang with friends or even to take a break from remote working at home. Oh yes: and the staff are all absolutely lovely! Can't...
