Sorry to say going downhill rapidly. I have frequented this great Pub since it opened. It has always had a good stock of food & drinks. Whenever the place got tatty from use, it usually got a refurb. NOW it is a scruffy hole, shiny carpets, wobbly tables, scuffed walls with paint missing, many chairs with no padding left. Tables still full of stacked up finished glasses and plates and all dripping wet needing wiping and clearing (unless Elaine is there, then tables are cleared and wiped shiny with military precision). Long wait to get served at the bar even though its reasonably empty, bar staff just ignore you and serve the regulars who already have a drink. If you order on the Wetherspoons app, 60% of the time you wait 10-15 mins for a drink to come to your table, even though it has been dispensed and it's just sitting on the bar waiting for the staff to bring it over, same with food that takes at least 15 minutes. The stock of food is poor, every Thursday when I go for a curry, i guarantee the Chicken tikka masala will be sold out by 6pm and have to make do with a korma. When the curry arrives 50% of the time you will find the garlic nan you paid for and ordered is a plain nan, and there is no mango pickle. There are two Coffee machines, 80% of the time one is out of order, the other normally as a problem as well, either no milk or ask for drinking chocolate and get hot milky water instead. Also needs modernisation & updating to the standard of other Wetherspoons. No Pizzas available on the menu food wise. It's a dark and dismal place, low wattage bulbs and painted tobacco yellow with no natural light. Hornchurch is the only place near me which is easy to get to. Such a shame, because it's a gold mine and need some TLC. Always loved going there, but so sad and sorry to say it's going downhill now 😢

02/01/2023 Went for a Breakfast this morning at 10.30am. Ordered it, but was told they have no bread, so there is no toast. Asked if the Breakfast price would be adjusted, but told no, it's the full price and I can cancel the order if I want 🥴 I wouldn't mind Lidl is only literally across the road (1 min walk). So all they need to do is just buy a couple of loafs.

14/01/2024 Breakfast. No Hot Chocolate, No white coffee, Latte gives you half a cup of milky water. So far been waiting 20 mins for breakfast.

Never been kicked out of here, unlike the Blue...

I went here yesterday for some lunch with my friend. We both had our toddlers with us. My little one is 18 months old and after food she was itching to get out of the high chair. I let her have a little walk up and down the Isle we were sitting in and the waitress Katie who was only a young girl was bringing everyone their orders and she had to dodge my little one and couple of times. I just want to say a huge sorry to Katie, I should have stopped my toddler from walking up and down. I feel so bad for you when you turned around and didn't realise my little one was behind you and you both fell on the floor but I had seen the whole thing. I saw her walk up behind you and I had no time to jump up and grab her and I saw you turn round and as you realised my little one was right behind you, you totally lost your balance but the amazing thing is what you done next. Your natural maternal instinct told you to protect my baby and you put your arm around her waist so that you didn't crush her when you fell and I was so shocked when I saw the whole thing, that a young girl at your age with such a natural protective instinct, bless you so much and thank you for keeping her safe and I am so sorry you fell down. I know how upset you got after and i wanted to talk to you but your team leader said you wasn't ready to come out from at the back of the bar. I hope you have a good weekend and just remember that you...

My 2nd visit and it was a bit of mixed bag. The menu's have the tiniest print so reading them was a challenge. I asked the girl behind the bar if she could read it for me and she was reluctant to tell me what the breakfast menu consisted of because of allergies. Yeah, make sense of that if you can. Well, I was hungry so I ordered whatever the breakfast menu was. They really need a dedicated waitress to clean away the dirty dishes, nothing is less appetizing than sitting at the only available table looking at the last customers leavings. Facing the toilets was not the most pleasant of experiences, either. After about 25 minutes my food arrived and it was a good sized portion, hot and well presented. The eggs were a little undercooked, American restaurants ask how you want your eggs cooked. Here, it's sunny side up only. Runny side up in this case. I'd have to rate them somewhere between so-so and adequate. The place seems more suited to cater to drinkers as opposed to diners. Did somebody say 'Just eat?'...

Down to earth pub, with busy bar due to its good value prices and excellent value meal deals, that fill you up! Yesterday was curry club, got naan, 2 poppadoms, chutney, curry and rice with a JD and coke for £8.10 my wife had scampi, chips and mushy peas with Bacardi and coke bill was under £16 as you can see enjoyed every bit. Needed the walk home, properly full.
