I would like to start this review by expressing how unbelievably disappointed I am by the level of customer service I received at Jaffna House today. Having been a regular customer of more than 20 years, it is clear the new management is not up to standard.
For some context, in both my last two orders, I received less than what I had paid for. As a regular customer I was willing to be understanding and accept that these things often happen in the business. However, when calling to explain what had happened, I was met with both accusation and hostility by the manager who continuously told me that the items I had not received had been packed by their staff and therefore did not see any issue.
Were these items invisible? Had I missed something? I checked under the brown paper bag just to be sure…nope…
After many minutes of accusing me of kicking up a fuss, I was offered the choice of either a refund on the food I had not received, or the journey in to pick up the missing food I had originally paid for!? The manager refused to deliver, despite my close proximity to the restaurant (about 10 min walk), due to low numbers of staff.
I then proceeded to come in as I was keen to receive the food I had actually ordered and paid for.
When I arrived at the restaurant, I was truly appalled by the language which was used to deal with my issue. A quote from the manager himself “We have served 50 customers today who’s orders have all been correct, but there seems to only be a problem with yours.”
A shame they couldn’t get 51 orders correct in a row This is definitely not the way to treat customers
I was made to wait around for 30mins to collect my missing food items which in the end consisted of 3 cold mutton rolls and 2 small samosas (which I was told had to be cooked on the spot - weird as they were cold when I got them?). Not even any compensation for having to come back in to receive my actual order.
Overall, my family and I were truly unimpressed by the service at Jaffna House and without a doubt will not be buying from them again. We are local to Tooting and would happily give our business to another South Indian/Sri-Lankan restaurant who actually value their customers.
To note: The food is no longer...
Read moreThe new opened restaurant is actually good. But this review totally belongs to the staff service in particular there is an European lady who does not even know how to deal with the customers.
I ordered four takeaways from them and even I had one masala dosa as dine in. So in total 5 dishes and I paid for everything. The manager is super cool man I should say. And after taking orders for some reasons I cud not find him when I got my takeaways. Since I had previously brought takeaways from them I actually didn’t check it as I trust them. That gave me my takeaways and I left.
When I reached home I realised that they had forgotten my three dishes and gave me one dish instead. Then I called them and that lady took the phone. I should say she was totally disrespectful and outspoken to me. As she was getting angry I had raised my voice as well. She did not even bother to gave the phone to anyone else.
Finally the manager took the phone and I had to tell him refund my money. I actually paid for four takeaways but when he asked me what all did I order I could think about only three dishes and they paid me back for those.
I don’t even bother go back in there and talk to them. What I meant to say please try to have nice people for your business it’s way more worth than that irresponsible and...
Read moreHonestly very good for value but really wished it to be better.
We ordered all the hoppers, hoppers are meant to be essentially like crispy dosa but in a bowl form. They arrived but were more like flat bowl and soft? Flavour was good though. For the milk hopper, the milky part usually forms at the bottom of the bowl shape but for this one they drizzled the milk in? The flavour was there though.
Masala dosa was tasty and crispy and came with one condiment. I wished it was hotter rather than warm.
Chicken kothu looked good visually but was surprisingly bland. The dish was lacking in any spice. Not spicy or mild and just needed flavour and a bit more salt. It just tasted like eating a basic western chicken dish. Apologies for being harsh on this one.
Everything arrived not hot, the dishes were on the verge of becoming cold.
The place seems to have potential but maybe we were just unlucky with this visit. We will come for another visit maybe other things on the...
