During our visit to Kizana, we sampled a variety of sushi rolls, each offering a distinct experience:

Spicy Salmon Roll (5/5):

This was the highlight of our meal, packing a delightful punch of heat that we thoroughly enjoyed.

Prawn Tempura Roll (5/5):

Perfectly balanced with a satisfying crispiness from the tempura and a smooth, creamy finish from the mayo. An excellent combination.

California Roll (4/5):

A solid choice, well-executed, though nothing particularly stood out. It was a good representation of a classic California roll.

Truffle Tuna Roll (3/5):

While the truffle flavour was subtle, which we appreciated, the texture was less appealing. The seaweed wrap and slightly harder sushi rice detracted from the overall experience.

Soft Shell Crab Roll (2/5):

Unfortunately, this was the most disappointing dish. The roll was poorly constructed, falling apart easily, and the non-end pieces were soggy with no crispness—a far cry from what we expected.

As for the restaurant itself, there were a few drawbacks. The server lacked knowledge of the menu, giving vague explanations when we inquired about specific sushi rolls. The printed menu didn’t specify the ingredients, and there was no guidance when our sushi platter was served, leaving us to identify each roll ourselves. Additionally, the ambiance was lacking; the restaurant appeared a bit tired, and there was a noticeable smell of oil, suggesting a need for better ventilation.

Despite these issues, the quality of the Spicy Salmon Roll and Prawn Tempura Roll helped redeem the experience.

However, given the glowing 4.9-star Google reviews, our expectations were higher than what Kizana delivered. While it’s worth a visit for the standout rolls, it may not fully live up...

A Hidden Gem for Sushi Lovers — Absolutely Outstanding!

We visited Kizana late in the evening and were welcomed with such warmth and friendliness, despite it being close to closing time. The staff let us know that mains weren’t available after 9:30pm, but we could still order sushi — and honestly, we’re so glad we did.

Having tried some of the best sushi in the UK (shout-out to Abbey Sushi in Derby!), I can confidently say that Kizana absolutely lives up to the standard — and then some.

Every dish was spot on:

Sashimi that genuinely melts in your mouth — the tuna, the salmon, just perfection.

Eel (unagi) was exceptional — my partner's all-time favourite and they nailed it.

Wakame, uramaki, the balance of rice and fish — everything was beautifully presented, full of flavour, and incredibly fresh.

Generous portions of both fish and avocado, with rice done just right — well-seasoned and in perfect proportion.

Beyond the food, the atmosphere was lovely. The team were not only friendly and attentive but also genuinely curious to know more about us — making us feel like more than just customers.

It was a truly fantastic experience from start to finish. We’ve already recommended Kizana to our friends in London, and we’ll definitely be back. Well done to the whole team — keep up the amazing work, and see...

Kizana surprised us — in the best way. Tucked into a quieter stretch of Battersea Park Road, this unassuming Japanese café and bar delivers bold flavours with real finesse. It’s intimate, stylish, and refreshingly humble — no flashy branding, just excellent food and warm service.

We tried the Truffle Beef, spicy edamame, and prawn tempura — each dish beautifully balanced and full of character. The bento boxes are generous and thoughtfully composed, and the desserts (like mango mochi and chocolate delice) add a playful, elegant finish. The staff were attentive and kind, with a genuine enthusiasm for what they serve. No automatic service charge — just hospitality that earns your tip.

Highlights

Inventive Japanese fusion with standout flavours Friendly, down-to-earth service Great value for the quality — especially at lunch Cozy, modern interior perfect for quiet meals or casual dates

Final Thought Kizana is one of those rare finds — quietly confident, unexpectedly delicious, and full of heart. If you’re looking for something a little different in Battersea, it’s absolutely...

It is important to remember that this is Japanese Fusion, not strictly a sushi place. You can therefore get to taste some quite novel dishes based around the theme of Japanese cuisine. We visited early evening on a damp, dark and rainy mid-week evening. It was not busy in the restaurant itself, but the takeaway was doing a roaring trade. These go out the back of the restaurant, so delivery people are not wandering through the restaurant the whole time, which was nice. The food was to a very high standard, in terms of presentation, quality and taste. Probably the Wagu beef sushi/fusion was the highlight. One aesthetically pleasing dish (pictured) was not such a highlight. Mainly as all the additional dressing added to make it a visual feast detracted from the flavour. It was nice, just a little over the top. Overall, a decent Japanese Fusion restaurant serving well made, fresh and novel dishes that is worth a visit if you are in the area.

I had a really enjoyable meal at Kizana Japanese Restaurant. I started with the Shiitake Mushroom Salad, which was full of flavor and a great way to begin the meal. For my mains, I ordered the Tuna Ponzu and the Kizana Sushi. Both dishes were fresh, tasty, and beautifully presented. The tuna had a nice citrusy kick, and the Kizana Sushi was not only artfully presented but also packed with flavour and freshness. A true showcase of quality ingredients and attention to detail. What I loved just as much as the food was the atmosphere. The restaurant has a calm, relaxing vibe, and the art on the walls really amazed me it added something special to the whole experience. The service was friendly and smooth. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more dishes on the menu. Highly recommend!
