The worst dining experience of my life!! I booked the duke from previous visits Iâve had one being the last roast dinner I had with my mother before she passed away!! Which Is why I decided to book the duke, based on my previous visits the ROAST DINNER has been delightful âI will attach picturesâ However on Christmas Day I was served a steak YES A STEAK wasn't even asked how I wanted it cooked? ! 2 potatoâs and a less a handful of veg and omg the bigs in blankets WOW ! This of course was a shock to me but leading up to receiving what they call roast dinner ! Which We waited nearly 2 hours for I had to talk to a supervisor to chase up the bread and drink that we ordered and had been waiting for 30 minutes for to then only receive one bit of bread for 2 people ? I also had to ask for our table to be cleaned for on mains! Iâve managed pubs large venues and have an events company so I know steps of service very well ! There was 3 people on the floor could have easily had a section each it wasnât overly busy and was a set menu easy to manage with the right direction ! After understandably making a complaint about what weâd been served the waiters response was so rude very hostile said the menu was different for Christmas? The set menu I was sent said sirloin beef not sirloin steak of course I imagined roasted sirloin beef not a braised over cooked steak!!! Then said as long as the food hasnât been eaten we can refund you! ON CHRISTMAS DAY !!!! Where are we going to get food ? We paid ÂŁ85 a head whilst waiting for the refund email he then came back to our table and asked if we wanted staff food ? Honestly ruined my first Christmas without my Mother I went home and dinner alone shocking shocking service! CHRISTMAS DAY !!!! I would suggest needing new management ASAP !!
First two pictures are what I received last picture is what I previously had will also attach a picture of a sirloin beef!!! Not...

I went with a group of friends and my dog to celebrate her 1st birthday, and we couldnât have picked a better place.
The food was superb and very generous. Iâm not usually a fish and chips person, but it looked so good that I ordered itâno regrets! The fish was beautifully white, flaky, fresh, and tasty, in a perfectly crunchy batter. The chips were spot on, and the mushy peas were such a hit at our table. Two friends had the pork and beef roasts, and not a drop of gravy was left behind. The meat was tender and perfectly cooked, as were the vegetables.
My doggy got her own roast as a bday treat, which she absolutely loved. The staff were so sweet and thoughtful, they even took her photo for the pubâs dog wall, which was such a lovely touch.
Drinks were just as good: a nice wine list, delicious cocktails (the Hugo was especially refreshing), and the added bonus that ÂŁ0.50 from every Hugo goes to a sea conservation charity.
Service was warm and personal. I was greeted by name when I arrived, and so was my dog! While waiting for my friends, we relaxed on a comfy sofa. The pub itself is beautifulâunique furniture, warm dĂŠcor, and a welcoming atmosphere full of locals (always a good sign).
We loved every moment and will gladly return. Plus, itâs just a short walk from the Thames Path and the Power Station, making it the perfect spot for both...
