Where to start...let's say from the name. For whom it is not Italian or familiar with Italian Language the name is where to start La Figa. This is a terms that indicate women genital part very much used in the 80's. This restaurant recall a lot of that period including the Bar Area very similar to the one that you would seen in a Disco back in the 80's in Rome. Their food it is really good and their product authentic, nothing to say. I had a lovely Whitebait as startee and they were very well done, crispy with a light bread crumb batter. We follow are meal with a Pizza, really good one, thin and crisp with a very great toppings. This is the results of a good experience on managing flour and hoven (Electric). Bravo chef. We finished our meal with a Creme Caramel, once again a classic of the 80's. The lady that look after us was really nice and with a great experience and made our meal really enjoyable, thank you for your kindness and professionalism. Overall a place to go if you want to have great food and service, to the owner I would only suggest maybe is time to refresh and move on from the 80' (We are on our 55 so we lived and loved that time but we adapted as well to the new era). By the way as we were used to say back in our time alway "Viva La Figa ...Restaurant"

My experience didn't start too well, because as I arrived, one of the managers was having a full blown argument with a member of staff. Not a great first impression! Once I got to our table and everyone had arrived then the afternoon went much better! Quite an extensive menu with loads of pizza options, chicken and fish dishes. We all shared the tomato pizza bread which was really hot and tasty then I had the the chicken dish (which is the round ball/kiev shape you can see in the picture) served with a good portion of side vegetables, which was absolutely delicious. If you're a big fan of chicken, then you will love this. Finished off with a lovely chocolate ice cream. It's a little bit pricey, EG: £9 for bruschetta, but it's Limehouse, East London, so it is pretty much what you'd expect to pay. Service was a little bit off to begin with but as the afternoon went one they seemed to warm to us a bit more, and we had some very funny banter with one of the waitresses.

I was looking for a bite to eat near my brother's house in Limehouse Marina, but didn't fancy paying Gordon Ramsay's prices. There aren't actually that many places around that area. I decided on a Cappriciosa pizza at La Figa. As a long-term Thailand expat making a trip back to London, I was horrified at the prices in London, but I guess that £17 for a pizza including service charge is about normal these days. Anyway, the pizza was huge (much larger than the plate) and very good. I just drank iced, tap water, which was free. This was appreciated. Some places force you to buy expensive bottled water, which is basically the same as free tap water. The service was excellent with the wait staff being very attentive, and nothing was too much trouble. All in all, it exceeded my expectations. The food was great, service was excellent, and bearing in mind how expensive everything is in London, not too expensive.

We dined here on Sunday evening of the Bank Holiday weekend with a large party. The place was heaving (as can be expected) and the service was shoddy as a result. Waited ages to order drinks, when our bread arrived only half of the table got side plates. Kept asking for more plates which never showed up. One member in our party ordered the prawn & lobster ravioli in which we only managed to find 1 prawn and no evidence of any lobster mainly just the pasta and a load of sauce. The waiters never asked anyone in the party how the food was so that we could comment. Another member of our party ordered the soup of the day which had no price on the menu but the other listed soup was priced at £6.95. When the bill arrived we had been charged £12.95!!! for a plate of lobster soup, double the price of the listed soup on the menu. Bit of a shocker! The service charge was added to our bill (£40) which was steep seeing as we had hardly any service. Finally, and I'm not the first person to mention this reading some of the other comments, the general appearance of the toilets really lets this restaurant down. The gents urinals, sinks and floors need a thorough deep clean and a good hard scrub. It made us question what the rest of the hygiene standards in the establishment are like. It doesn't look like this review is going to get much of a follow up but the owners should take some notes from the slightly lesser reviews to improve their performance and...

So just don't ask an Italian as to the name of the restaurant ;) I always have a chuckle when I walk past, especially as I live close by. We decided to go in there for dinner and overall, it was nice. Certainly, there was absolutely no fault with the service. The lady serving out table was lovely. Be aware that the portion sizes are very much on the exuberant side...the pasta dish you see in the picture really was theoretically for one person. Really generous 'portion' of clams, mussels and prawns with fresh pasta in a tomato sauce. I felt the sauce could've had a little more thickness and flavour, but overall it was good. I had a boscaiola pizza with italian sausage, red onions, thinly sliced spech (ham) and chillies and mozzarella. Good think and crispy pizza...I do like my pizza having some lovely bubbles on the crust proper traditional style, but their oven is not wood. We were offered limoncello on the house which was really nice of them. The dessert counter filled with massively sized cannoli, cheesecake, profiteroles and tiramisu looked appetising. Hopefully we can go in there again to have a full meal...but we definitely were very full after the pasta and pizza. This restaurant has an almost 'club size' bar, so hopefully we'll get to also try their drinks and cocktails next time. I can see why this place gets lots of customers. The garlic mushrooms for starters...
