If I could give 0 stars I would. I never leave negative reviews, but I just had to warn others of this place, and the lies portrayed on social media. They pay influencers to promote this horrific place to lie to people. I’d rather throw my money in the bin than spend it here.
Let’s start with the HORRIBLE service. I asked the girl working where’s the menu, she just pointed to it, when she could have easily given it to me. I mean… customer service? We ordered and sat our selves, no one pointed us towards a table. They weren’t welcoming at all, they were just talking amongst themselves, not professional at all. Also they all had an attitude for no reason. I walked in super nice. We ordered a pistachio kunefe chocolate cake (forgot the name), Matilda cake, and 2 mint teas and sat our selves down. Total £23.
Now let’s get onto the hygiene. See attached photo, the walls are DIRTY. I didn’t get a picture of the chairs, but they are ALL dirty. I had to search for a chair that was decent enough to even sit on. Floors, DIRTY, toilet out of service, menu’s dirty.
Now let’s get onto the meals itself. My cake was DRY, OLD, DISGUSTING. I don’t know how you can go wrong with chocolate cake. I can tell it was a few days old for sure. I went up to the girls on the till, one Asian and one Eastern European I believe. I told them I don’t like my cake and raised my issues, they said ‘but did you eat it?’. I said ‘No I just took a bite of it and i don’t like it’. They then said ‘well you’ve eaten it so there’s nothing we can do, company policy’. I said ‘I didnt eat it, I tried it and I don’t like it it’s disgusting’. They repeated ‘its company policy, we can’t do nothing’. I told them the mint tea was also watery, and horrible, and needed sugar, they just said ‘the sugar is behind you you can go get it’. She was extremely dismissive and rude. The tea arrived cold btw. But my thing is, if I didn’t touch the cake, they would have just put it back on the shelf and given it to someone else? That’s DISGUSTING and unhygienic. I wouldn’t want to be served something that’s been put on someone’s plate that they’ve breathed on. Secondly, how would you know something is off if you don’t try it? I took one bite and had my friend try because I thought maybe it’s just me and she said the same. Therefore, I didn’t ’eat’ it. Thirdly, I’m supposed to just keep something I don’t like and just eat it or throw the cake away, every place you eat at, if you don’t like something they will either make it again or you can order something else. So this is a huge RED FLAG. I paid £8.99 for a cake that was old, dry, and disgusting. Also the Matilda cake was underwhelming, and not as they show online in videos. It’s a lie. Worst chocolate cake I ever had by far. Asda does better.
PLEASE STAY AWAY, HORRIBLE ALL OVER. Will never go back. Literally warned everyone I know not to go as some friends have been wanting to visit for a while. DO NOT GO HERE if you...
Read moreUpon entering, the initial experience was somewhat confusing. There was no clear indication of whether we were to seat ourselves or wait for assistance. This lack of direction contributed to an awkward atmosphere as we stood by the entrance, observing staff members who appeared more engaged in their own conversations than in attending to customers. This made for a less than welcoming first impression.
I opted for a tea, mocha, and a pistachio cake. Unfortunately, the tea arrived with half of it spilled, which was disappointing and suggested a lack of attention to detail during service. As for the pistachio cake, it did not meet expectations; it tasted somewhat outdated and dry, lacking the freshness one would hope for from a dessert at a dedicated bakery.
The total cost of £28 felt excessive given the quality of the food and service received. For that price point, one would expect not only better presentation but also higher quality items that are fresh and enjoyable.
To make matters worse, we had also ordered a takeaway cake when we first sat down, but we had to remind the staff about it after finishing our meal. It was an oversight on their part—this takeaway item should have been packed and handed to us at the start, as we had already paid for it.
In summary, my visit to The Baklava Company was underwhelming due to poor service, subpar food quality, and high prices relative to what was offered. I left feeling disappointed and...
Read moreI've visited the new establishment twice and ordered takeaway, the first experience was good, I bought a slice of the burnt Basque cheesecake which was amazingly good and a cookies and cream Korean style doughnut not so good, the doughnut was quite dry and underwhelming.
The second visit was also a takeaway, I ordered the burnt Basque cheesecake again, a mini chocolate dream cake and karak chai. The karak chai was okay, nothing special. The dream cake was okay, a thin chocolate cake layer, cream layer and a layer of hard chocolate but the size of the slice of cheesecake was ridiculously small! Quality control is obviously an issue here as other people have also stated the same thing about slices of cake etc. whoever is cutting the cake needs to measure the slices evenly so people don't feel as though they have been overcharged. I don't expect each slice to be exactly the same there's room for human error but what I received the second time was unacceptable and not worth the price I paid.
Service is definitely without a smile which is a shame because I believe this place has the potential to be a really nice spot worthy of regular visits but they need to take customers'comments onboard, upkeep cleanliness and make improvements to the service and quality of their products.
Come on Baklava company you can do this!!! Make your community proud!
I will give it another try to see if there are any significant improvements and follow...
