La Plaza Tapas Bar — Restaurant in London

I wanted to have lunch with a friend after the lockdown, and we were both fed up of the usual pizza or pasta place or super-carbs heavy food, we wanted something Mediterranean style, fresh and tasty food, with more choices, and with some cool drinks and wines, at a good value for money. We happen to see this place just at the corner between Tavistock Road and Portobello Road. We felt like being on holiday in Spain for the whole lunch. We had an amazing time and delicious food, we shared a few tapas as a starter, a delicious fish paella, we had a cocktail each with the starters and wine with the food. Ending with a good desert and coffe. The staff was welcoming and took complete care of us! The lockdown made us a bit more hesitant to eat out, but this place was specious, and we could sit with space around and it looked renovated and very clean (virus free!), also the waiters were wearing a mask, and it has tables outside. This used to be our go-to place for tapas and it was ALWAYS excellent. Unfortunately there has been a major change - either in ownership or in the kitchen - because it has gone from excellent to inedible. Meatless ribs in a sea of industrial sauce with a odd smell and taste, undercooked and bland croquetas, a tortilla that oozes so much cold oil you can actually hear your arteries crying, and the once wonderful cured chorizo is now a cheap chorizo that you can find in the supermarket - so full of fat and additives that I turns to rubber when cooked. Our waiter spoke no English and has never worked in service before - you will have to open your own bottles, put empty dishes onto another table or else they won’t be collected and nobody will ask you if your food is alright or bat an eye when you leave your plates untouched. really bad service...waiter and waitress at the bar really not taking care about customer service...ordered 2 glasses of wine one was 170 ml the other one 200ml...same wine...anyway...we go through the dinner...one guy standing close to us... The guy obviously superhigh on cocaine...bartender doing neverending drinks for him..like a glass almost half full just rum "that by law it's strict"...and when I ask the bill he keep ignoring me till he doesn't finish the speech with the high one...and to keep speaking to him he charge me twice... I'm sorry for the chef's...maybe the only one working in that place.. One more thing...no one there speaks English...I get that you want to let us feel like in Spain...but at least when someone do a complain someone should understand...
