I am writing to express my deep concern and dissatisfaction regarding an experience I had with an order I placed from Lahore Spices in Sutton. On 09/03/2025, We group of St Helier Hospital Staff ordered food from Lahore Spices restaurant, and upon eating, I discovered two pieces of material ( Plastic and Glass ) in my meal. Naturally, we were very alarmed and immediately contacted your restaurant to inform you of the issue. However, I was extremely disappointed by the response I received. Not only was the fault not acknowledged, but there was also no apology or attempt to rectify the situation. This lack of accountability and poor customer service is completely unacceptable, especially considering the potential health risks associated with foreign objects in food. After all they says this is a human error so nothing they can do. Those carelessness of the the restaurant team may cause danger to someone's life and even endup in death. As we hospital staff working hard for patient's better health However this kind of people dont care of other's life. As a customer, I expected a much higher standard of care and professionalism in handling such serious concerns. I kindly request a formal apology and a resolution to this matter. as well as an assurance that steps will be taken to ensure this does not happen again. We will circulate this matter to the whole Hospital department to ensure that everyone aware of this situation and will circulate within our work place.

It was my first visit to Lahore Spice for a take away order. Order was : chicken biryani, vegetable biryani and butter paneer. Nice and simple! About service: it took them 20 minutes to prepare the order. There was an internal miscommunication about 'butter' paneer. I could see the manager's/owner's furious body language but no one came up to me and explained that I need to wait a little longer. Other staff members were way polite than the manager. About food: the quantity was generous in the boxes. Chicken, the soul of chicken biryani, was dry and hard. Vegetable biryani had gone off and had to be thrown away. Butter paneer was delicious. Surprisingly, the mint raita and salad tasted fresh and crispier, respectively. Overall: Pricing is moderate and takeway orders over £12 get 10% discount. The place seems to have many regulars. (20 minutes well-spent, observing) Verdict: I haven't tried many items on the menu, yet. I might go back and dine in next time. But this visit wasn't very pleasant at all, for sure.

Continuing on from my search for the best biryani, I visited Lahore spices. Well they didn't do too bad! Firstly the portion size was more than enough for one person. Secondly, the presentation; a traditional looking chicken biryani dish which was pleasing to the eye. Finally, the taste; I have to say I was impressed! They didn't hold back on the masala which gave it that traditional 'authentic' taste, garnished with fried onions. But what really stood out was the price! At £4.95 and that in London too, has got to be the best VFM biryani I've had so far. I'd definitely go back!

One of the saddest and disappointing experience I've had for a long time, if not ever. With utmost excitement I went to this restaurant to satiate my craving for Halwa puri for breakfast. The restaurant was quite empty which I put to the fact it being a weekday morning. Ordered my Halwa puri and aloo paratha and patiently waited for these to arrive. Took a very long time ( which I attributed to these being cooked fresh and them being extremely busy with someone who they had hired for PR/advertisement) for my order to come to the table. But what I wasn't expecting was being served uncooked puris and a very mediocre choley. On pointing this out to the person serving me, he did bring me a new puri which was hard and drenched in oil. Since I was still hungry and unsatiated, I ordered for tea( which I had asked for as soon as I had entered the restaurant and was assured of it being available) and vegetable pakoras. The pakoras did come dripping oil which I told one of the other server who told me " pakoras are meant to be oily" and that tea never arrived. After a really long wait one of the servers came up to me and said that the milk is over ( mind it , this was all after I complained about the puris and pakoras). So finally I gave up, asked them to give me the bill, paid for all the uneaten food as well as the extra replaced puri and left. Don't know whether this is how they normally are or was this because of the fact that they were busy entertaining the man with the camera but what I experienced here was an extremely unprofessional behavior of the servers and the manager and a very mediocre food served.

PS: I can't imagine a "restaurant " telling it's customer that they are OUT OF MILK for tea.

I wouldn't recommend this...

UPDATE TO MY REVIEW BELOW [EDITED]:

I visited Lahore Spices during Ramadan and ordered a mixed grill alongside a few other things off the menu.

Whilst I understand the restaurant would be busy due to people wanting to break their fast, I was served a mixed grill that seemed like it had been cooked earlier that day & simply reheated in the microwave.

I was extremely disappointed to see this & did find it quite odd that the mix grill came out quick after ordering it. Normally a mixed grill comes out sizzling but it didn’t on this occasion. The chicken & kebabs were very very dry & the lamp chops were really tough. The food was of course not fresh at all, and I made a complaint to the waiter who replaced the lamp chops but not the whole grill. I was half expecting not to pay for the mixed grill as I was not impressed however as it was Ramadan I didn’t want to make a fuss.

Because of this experience, I will not be ordering or visiting Lahore Spices again as the food does not seem to be of good standard anymore and the service isn’t great either. Such a shame that a once great restaurant seems to have lost its touch.

————————————————————————— I regularly order from Lahore Spices and have been doing so for the last few years; given it’s the only local Pakistani restaurant in my area.

I do enjoy the food, however on occasions it can be hit & miss! Sometimes the kebabs aren’t fully cooked and the biryani doesn’t have much chicken or meat. Although, majority of the time this isn’t the case, however there is definitely room for improvement in terms of the consistency of quality!

Recently delivery times have been very long, and we’ve been waiting over an 1hr for the food to arrive. I hope this improves drastically...
