It is my first time and I finally managed to go on a last minute decision on a Tuesday evening at 9 PM. I booked, found a table, and went across London to taste their food. The place was full and buzzing in a very relaxed, unpretentious way. The service is very efficient and fast, and I was seated within seconds from my arrival. I ordered the prawns that are supposed to be enveloped in a salad leaf ( can’t remember the name ) and the famous dad’s curry; my dinner partner who joined me later ordered the aubergine as a starter and another dad’s beef curry .Everything we had was cooked to perfection and the flavours were so nice, crispy, balanced with a twist of chilli and sour flavour so perfectly simple yet sophisticated and hard to achieve. We drank Singha beer as I believe that ti be the best accompaniment to the dishes we selected . The space is also very nice, decorated with splashes of colour and also some pots and flower arrangements that are very zen and very chic at the same time . The same can be said for the art work on display here. All in all a perfect meal in a great space with outstanding cuisine executed precisely and faultlessly. I did not take any pictures because we devoured everything we ordered very fast and forgot to take pics . Lastly, the bill including drinks and service came to 43 pounds each ( which, for this quality of food is unheard of ). Ps my dinner partner is a chef, and he adored every minute of this culinary experience...
Read moreI tried 3 starters and main with rice. First starter was Prawns wrapped in noodles and then fried. These prawns should have had tails completely taken off. I ended up digging under the noodles trying to find all the skin which should be off. Second started was aubergine. The meal was probably as it supposed to be but not for me. Very soft squishy baked aubergine was soaked in some sort of limey sauce. I did not like the texture or the taste. And finally prawns on green wrap leaf. It was very tasty. A bit spicy and refreshing. For main we ordered 2 portions of noodles with seafood mix, two portions of rice and steamed broccoli. We could not believe how long we were waiting for our main. 45 min later we got finally served our main… but 1 portion only. Obviously they made a mistake. When service realised, they tried to say that this dish is prepared separately and second portion will be done shortly. We decided to start sharing one portion and almost finished it before delivered second main meal, 10 minutes later. In my opinion this place is overrated thanks to TikTok. If you are local to King’s Cross then it’s okay to pop in for a quick dinner. But it’s not worth of travelling. We travelled all the way from Notting Hill. One more thing I would like to say. Every restaurant service is only as good as their rude member. Unfortunately we were served by very grumpy waitress who looked like we really...
Read moreWe had an enjoyable evening here - very slightly curtailed by the two hour table turn policy (though that was enough time for us to have a selection of starters and mains, and for two of us to have ice cream for dessert).
We ate:
Laab Aubergine - Smoked aubergine Kung Sarong - Fried prawns wrapped in noodles Yum Hoa Plee - Banana flower salad
Kha-nom Jeen Namya Poo - Red curry crab with soft noodles Moo Hong - Five spice pork belly Dad's Beef Curry Phakbung Fai Dang - Morning Glory Jasmine Rice (x2)
Salted coconut and caramel ice cream Black Sesame ice cream
Fresh lemongrass tea Singha beers (x3)
For a total bill including service of about £195 (between three). We were reasonably parsimonious with alcohol - so it would be easy to get a £70-£90 a head bill for three courses.
The food was enjoyably spicy; flavoursome rather than just a chilli-bomb; and the milder dishes (such as the Moo Hong) were also tasty. The staff seemed quite concerned we knew what we were doing when we ordered the red curry crab noodle dish, but we didn't find this the spiciest thing we had ordered!
Would definitely return, particularly as a small group prepared to share dishes. It's not cheap, but I think is reasonable value (for London) for what...
