The first time I came here was a year or so ago - my friend and I were crawling bars and restaurants around the area and decided to end the day here. Enjoyed more than a few beers and shots with an incredibly friendly bartender whose impeccable service really made our night. He told us about their speciality, a whole grilled fish. Sadly, we had just had dinner and had to leave shortly afterwards.
For months, that night stuck in my head. I wanted to come back but never got around to it.
Cue last night, it was nearing 12am and the missus and I had unsuccessfully been trying to find anywhere open in the Elephant and Castle/upper Old Kent Road area after hitting a few bars nearby. I remembered that Le Joint is open all night so we stumbled in and after a short wait our food arrived. My God, it may be the best fish Iāve ever had. The skin was crispy; the meat was sweet, succulent and perfectly tender. Everything fell off the bone with ease and the plantain was perfectly cooked. Really enjoyed the pepper sauce that came with it as well which was enjoyably hot. Again, the service was great, the atmosphere was lovely and we left on a high for the rest of the evening. A whole grilled fish with fried plantains and fried yam. The flavor is great you can tell that the fish was marinated for some time. Perfectly cooked flaky fish and the pepper sauce for accompaniment was very hot and flavourful.
