The management of Marriot refused to publish my review for unknown reasons on their website after my stay. So to help people know the truth about this hotel I am publishing my review here. I stayed at the hotel for 9 days. And I regret spending money there. I had no satisfaction at all. In addition, I believe this hotel tarnishes the image of the Marriot reputation. 1- The entire hotel relies on one elevator only. Simply put, if the elevator would to break down for several hours or longer everyone is screwed. Are customers supposed to drag their heavy suitcases up the stairs to their rooms at check-in or walk up the stairs for that matter? I am clueless as to how authorities in London even licensed the hotel to begin operations with just one elevator. 2-Carpets in the corridors are dirty and stained. You can easily tell they have not been shampood for over a year and have not changed for God knows how long. As soon as the elevator door opens you can see the dirt and scrathes on the walls. I realize that the Residence is not the Ritz Carlton, but cleanliness and quality should not be taken for granted in any Marriot hotel.. Furthermore, the dimmed lights along with black carpets only add depression and anxiety to the already lifeless corridors. A fresh new perspective from a savvy interior design and fresh paint would help a great deal for boosting positivity and good vibes in the hotel. 3- House keeping is not efficient. They missed cleaning my room during one of the days. When I arrived at 4 pm that day and informed the front desk about the issue, I was told I cannot be present in the room during the cleaning process. This does not make any sense to me. It would also help in the future that there be better commucation from the hotel management. A note for example under the door stating that cleaning for guests who are staying long periods is done after 4 pm (as priority is given for early checkouts) would be helpful for better clarity and understanding of the hotel’s policies. In addition, the room phone was not working properly and the shower drain was clogged with hair when I checked in, so I had to ask for maintenance to fix this issue. This could have been avoided if house keeping had a regular check-list for rooms in which they inspect everything thoughrouly in the room before announcing its readiness for the next guest. 4- No streaming apps in television sets. For some reason I felt i was in 2005 and not in 2025 in ny room with satelite tv but no streaming apps. Streaming tv plays a large part in peoples’ lives nowadays. Smart tvs with access to Netflix, Amazon Prime, Apple Tv, Youtube, only makes common sense in our modern age of hospitality. I would like to thank two front desk employees: Vismaya and Alex who were friendlly and professional at their jobs despite the busy hours of summer shifts. I hope the senior mangement in the Marriot group take my feedback into consideration for improvement and...
Read moreWe had booked a 2 weeks stay at the Residence Inn London Bridge for our visit to London. I had stayed previously in Marriott in the US and was hoping for a similar experience, I was not disappointed.
Service: The service was exceptional. The front desk folks were always ready to help. We had questions on the first day on the operations of the dishwasher and they immediately came up to demonstrate the usage. The front desk consisting of Gabriela and Divya who checked us in were very professional and upgraded us to a one bedroom. It was real spacious. After reading all the reviews about tiny hotel rooms in London, we were pleasantly surprised by the spacious rooms that this hotel had. Room service was prompt, they changed the towels everyday and ensured all that the toilet rolls were always available. The spread for the morning breakfast was continental - we stuck to the yummy croissants and the Cafe latte from the machine. There were other options - breads, bagels, muffins, waffles, some type of egg, beans, hash browns, tomatoes and beans, apple and orange juice, cornflakes, different types of milk, etc. A big call out to Gabriela who checked in on us everyday after we returned from our day activities and made us feel very welcomed.
Facilities: The hotel offers laundry. There are 4 sets of washers and dryers available in the basement and the washing pods are available in the reception for free. This was extremely useful as we were able to wash all our clothes before returning from London.
Connectivity : The hotel is situation in Zone 2 and well connected. London is a city made for walking and has an excellent public transport system. There are good footpath's / sidewalks and even if google says 5-7 mins walking, it is easily doable. This feedback is from someone who hardly walks. You have buses like C10 that you can take from the nearby Staple street bus stop or the Bermondsey street bus stop. A short walk leads you to the Caledonian Market stop where you have plenty of buses (188/1) that take you to all the tourist destinations in Central London. These buses also ply to the Elephant Castle and Waterloo tube station, again which connect you to multiple areas of London.
Shops and Restaurant: If you are shopping for groceries, there is a Sainsbury 300m from the hotel. If you are looking for a Tesco, there is one further done in Long Lane or there is one opposite the Caledonian Market bus stop. There are multiple restaurants in the area but the ones we found and stuck to were - Fine Foods Locanda del Melo right opposite the hotel for their excellent Italian and Cafe Nawaz on Snowfields. We are vegetarians and both these restaurants have excellent vegetarian options.
Our only suggestion would be to increase the number of TV channels that are currently on offer...

My family and I stayed here at the Residence Inn London Bridge on Long Lane from August 8 through August 10. The hotel is a standard urban Residence Inn. We had a studio with two double beds, two bathrooms, and a pullout sofa.
The issue was that I was robbed right out front of the hotel with my wife and our 3 kids and the hotel staff did nothing.
We had called an Uber and were waiting on the sidewalk in front of the hotel for the Uber to arrive. I had my phone in my hand tracking how far away the Uber was. Someone on a motorcycle drove up on the sidewalk, drove past us and snatched my phone out of my hand, put it in his jacket pocket and drove off down the street. It happened fast!
My oldest daughter and I chased after him for a few blocks before he got away. My wife stayed with our younger kids who were traumatized and crying as you can imagine. Luckily a kind lady near my wife saw us and offered to call the police.
My daughter and I came back from chasing the person and we went into the lobby (in which the front desk literally faces the sidewalk and street where the theft occurred and is only about 20 feet away from the entrance) and started making calls to minimize any potential damage. There were two front desk employees there, one was the assistant manager, and they said nothing to us. Even if they didn't see the original incident I know they could hear me say "I was robbed..." several times on the phone. Also, later the police came into the lobby to talk to us about the incident near the front desk and they asked the front desk staff about viewing security camera footage.
There was no point at anytime during our stay where any hotel staff ever asked us about the incident. No "are you ok?" No, "is there anything we can do to help?". No "sorry this happened to you." Nothing! The is very disappointing as we stayed there another night after the incident.
Obviously we don't blame the hotel for the robbery. They weren't the ones snatching the phone from my hand. But to not even show any empathy or concern for your guests, especially young children, after having a traumatic incident happen right out front is pathetic. We are long time Bonvoy members and have stayed at Marriotts all over the world. I don't think the behavior of the staff at the this hotel is indicative of the brand as a whole, but it's still very disappointing.
Again, please be careful if you stay here! When we talked to the police they told us the street was notorious for this type...
