This is also known as The Portuguese Cafe in our area. It is a lovely little cafe but I'm not quite sure what it is. It reminds me of the cafe restaurants you get on holiday. It offers the typical greasy spoon cafe food, tasty and hearty and it also has a cake section, sandwich bar and is a restaurant in the evenings serving alcohol. The facts are that the staff are friendly and helpful and the food is good too. I've dropped a star as it is pricier than most of the other "greasy spoon" cafes in the borough however, as it doubles as a restaurant in the evening , it appears customers are essentially paying restaurant rather than cafe prices. There's nothing else like this nearby which makes it very convenient. The day menu has standard cafe fayre - omelettes, paninis, cooked beakfasts, teas and coffees. Lunch time has chips with everything and they also have a takeaway sandwich bar suitable for workers at local businesses. They have an amazing selection of sweet pastries and the Portuguese egg custard tart is excellent. There's an outdoor section for smokers which you have to walk padt to access the cafe, a ramp for prams and wheelchairs and approx 12-15...
Read moreHaving lived in the area all my life, I was surprised that this was my first time visiting Mad Café. It’s a small, welcoming spot with a laid-back and friendly atmosphere. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel right at home, greeting us with warm smiles and great service.
My wife and I decided to go for breakfast, and we were both impressed by how quickly our food arrived. I particularly enjoyed the bacon, which had a great smoky flavour and was grilled rather than fried—giving it a nice crispness without being too greasy. My wife’s dish was equally enjoyable, and everything was well-prepared and fresh. To top it off, I ordered a smoothie, which was flavourful and refreshing, making for a perfect complement to the meal.
Mad Café is a great little spot for a relaxed breakfast or brunch, and I’ll definitely be returning. It’s an excellent choice for anyone in the area looking for a friendly café with great food and...
Read moreThis Cafe/Restaurant is simply awesome. We went there for my friend birthday lunch since she was craving "proper" Portuguese food. The food was fresh and delicious. Beware that the portions are huge! We ended up taking away some food home for dinner. The service was super friendly and speedy. The atmosphere is definitely kid-friendly as attested by our kids and other families around us. The price? Reasonable. One is one of the best place I have been to eat lately! You know when someone just get everything right and you feel so great about it that you want to leave a generous tip? I definitely recommend them and will come back again. Ps- -On weekends go before 1pm or after 2.30pm, because it can get pretty busy. -It would be great for them to have kids' menu. Our kids just ate a little bit, but it didn't go to waste because they packed the food for us...
