Finally 3 of us (Kev, Lee and myself) returned to the Maharajah after easily 10 years (more likely 15 years) since we last came !!! The Maharajah was our regular food spot after drinking in Bexley village before we all moved away or changed jobs, had many a good night there so last night was the test to see if it had changed and lived up to its past great memories.... Firstly the restaurant now is bigger, they have added an extra bit on the back so its now actually HUGE compared to before. Our favourite Chichen Chat starter I think we all agreed was not the same as we remember, it lacked the kick it had in the past with its new design, however that was easily made up for with the main course. We ordered everything we could remember so the Chicken Jalfrezi, Chicken Madras, Lamb Gosht Silsila, Tandoori Mix, Onion bahjees, Keema naan, Bullet (chilli) naan, various rice, popadoms and the usual and it was fantastic. all washed down with Cobra beer. A feast for the 3 of us but we successfully managed to eat pretty much all of it. As always the staff were amazing (i maybe even recognised some of them from when we used to visit 10-15 years ago). Anyway Happy Christmas to all at the Maharajah, it was great to visit again after such a long time!

It is a great place for celebration birthday, anniversary and get together with friends. The place is very quiet and lively atmosphere and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Their food is fabulous if you love indian food specially try the chicken/lamb tikka masala, Chicken tikka jalfrezi, Murg Palpali as a main. And if you love tandoori dishes then you definitely try their chicken or lamb tikka and chicken or lamb shashlick also lamb chop as a main. Also as a starter you can try onion bhajee, chat chicken or lamb chat and prawn puree, I often visit there and always try new dishes such a lovely place. I will highly recommended you guys and their price is also reasonable and I forgot to mention the drink you can try cobra or kingfisher or if you love wine then you can try the house white dry one is very popular here. I hope you enjoy their foods such a great place. they are open at 5pm oo clock and closed nearly 11 oo clock.

My order for main course was lamb tikka masala. The dish arrived after nearly an hour. It was a bowl of flourescent orange sauce which looked disgusting and was loaded with sugar - no taste of herbs or spices. I fished out the seven small pieces of lamb onto my plate which was not heated. I discarded the sauce and did not touch it. I had a half share of chilli naan and a half share of special fried rice. Overall the food was very average for the price. I also had a red wine but the waiter did not show me the bottle - again not impressed with that.

My friend who ordered vegetable biriyani let me eat about half of his dish as he had indigestion (not the restaurant's fault). If I had not had that extra food I would have left hungry.

I regularly visit Indian restaurants and know when I'm getting good value for money. The Maharajah is expensive and did not give good value. I would not go...
