Wow! As an Afghan, this is exactly what we needed—a beautifully designed restaurant serving truly authentic Afghan cuisine. The food is amazing, capturing traditional flavour's with incredible attention to detail. It’s clear that a skilled chef is behind the magic! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, beautifully showcasing Afghanistan’s rich culture. The thoughtful décor adds to the experience, making every visit feel special. The staff are incredibly fast, welcoming, and ensure a memorable meal from start to finish. A delightful Afghan restaurant with charming and helpful staff. There’s an excellent selection of starters and very tasty mains, with plenty of fine food to choose from. We had a great selection of dishes to share, and none disappointed—each one was fantastic! The meat dishes were especially succulent, and there’s also a great variety of vegetarian options, making it a perfect spot for everyone. As the name suggests, I highly recommend the Mantu—delicious dumplings filled with meat—but there are plenty of alternatives and other options to suit all tastes. The fresh kebabs are also a must-try! If you're in the area, I’d definitely recommend this restaurant for a hearty meal with great service. Well done, guys! This was much needed in Edgware.

Mantu Restaurant offers some of the best Afghan food I’ve had so far. The quality and flavor of the dishes are consistently impressive. I’ve tried the Mantu, Chapli Kebab, Bolani, and Kabuli—all were well-prepared, flavorful, and clearly made with attention to detail. The service is also worth mentioning. Lima has served me on a couple of visits, and each time she’s been friendly, attentive, and professional. Her service definitely stands out and makes the overall experience even better. During Ramadan, they provided complimentary dates, soup, and a meat-filled pastry to break the fast, which was a thoughtful and appreciated gesture. One unique highlight is the “secret” tea—rich, flavorful, and unlike anything I’ve had elsewhere. The owner seems to be keeping the recipe under wraps, and for good reason. It’s also a nice touch that the chef occasionally comes out to greet customers. That kind of personal engagement reflects the care and pride they put into their food and service. Overall, Mantu is a great choice for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Afghan cuisine in a welcoming, well-run setting.

What an incredible hidden gem! Mantu Restaurant delivers an authentic Afghan dining experience that truly stands out. The food is full of rich, bold flavours—especially the mantu dumplings, which were perfectly spiced and beautifully presented. Every dish we tried felt homemade and made with love. The staff were genuinely kind and welcoming, taking time to explain the menu and make recommendations. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it perfect for both a cosy meal or a small gathering with friends. Highly recommended if you're looking to try something special in Edgware, North London. We’ll definitely be coming back! And a truly unforgettable experience! Mantu Restaurant doesn’t just serve delicious Afghan food—they also make handmade ice cream the traditional way, with no machines involved. It's rare to find this kind of craftsmanship these days. The texture was unbelievably creamy, and the flavour had that nostalgic, natural richness you just can't get from factory-made ice cream. You can really taste the care and tradition in every bite.

Place looked great and so did the food online. We were seated quickly but waited 10min for someone to take our order.

Once placed waited around 45min, received the chicken tikka and rice and also the lamb meat sadly rice was cold and half of our food came later approx 10min late, no drinks till the end also which is dissapointing. Most dissapointing was the nan, supposed to be fresh but it's clearly bought and warmed up. Service needs to be top notch especially for new restaurants. Food has to be hot! And definitely increase portion sizes for sauce and salad.

We had to ask for everything, most of our food ordered was either missing or cold which is a shame. The presentation of the meat plates are horrendous please add some salad or raw onion next to it, it just looks so bland and boring.

Salad and bread should always be at the tables when foods ordered first always leaves a good impression and guests can nibble on them till their food.

Water should always be on tables also and drinks always first.

I am rooting for this place, great location but you have to take all these points else you won't survive especially near edgware.

I couldn't give it above 1 star sadly due to...
