Let's start from the far beginning. Around a month ago I was walking by the Megan's in Surbiton, I had such a stressful day and I went inside the restaurant to have some lunch and a glass of wine. The door staff girls gave me such a negative vibe, they are quite unfriendly. I'm a young girl maybe they thought that I don't have enough money to stay in their "restaurant". The place was 90% empty and I asked a table for 1 person, she said that they don't have any space for me. I was shocked, she did not even explain anything. As I mentioned already, I had such a stressful day and when I left the restaurant I cried ...
Yesterday, 10/07/21 I decided to try my luck again and when to Megan's in Surbiton for a dinner with my friend. We pre-booked a table. Exactly the same story, I arrived at the "restaurant" first and one of the staff members ( a girl wearing a yellow top with a black skirt) was quite unfriendly and talked to my like she is my boss and I came there to work. She guided me to my table which was by the column (restricted view) and very close to the table where 4 people were sitting. All other tables for 2 people in this line were empty and there was one more room that looked like an under roof garden, and I asked her what is that place? I thought maybe they smoke shisha in that room and we could take a seat there. The girl told me to sit at the table they provided me, with a bossy tone of voice. To be hones, I wanted to leave the place immediately...I regret that I did not do it. My friend was 30 minutes late and I was sitting there for minimum 15 minutes and no one came to me, I had to go to the front of the "restaurant" to ask someone to take my order. My friend arrived and the waitress brought as some wine and water. We asked her if we could change a table and she explained as nicely that the tables are pre-booked but we can still change the table. We changed the table, we ordered food, and then ,wooohooo, food arrived ( please check the pictures). HOW CAN YOU NAME YOUR RANDOM SALAD A TABBOULEH SALAD? I love tabbouleh salad and I eat it regularly but THIS IS NOT A TABBOULEH!!!! The prawns were terrible, it seems like we paid more for oil in a pan, not the prawns. Then we had our mains, shakshukas, the mains were ok. The wine was terrible, not a good quality wine. The dessert cookie was delicious. On our way back home from the restaurant me and my friend felt sick, we had stomach-ache and many other things that I don't even what to write about in here. I did not sleep till late and I had to take some medicines.
The place is beautiful but this is the only advantage. I'm not going to visit this place again and would not recommend any people to go there.
Also I want to pass the message to Megan's Surbiton staff. Please, smile, love people, be friendly, be polite. I understand that you are working hard but don't make other people feel bad and uncomfortable when you are not happy with your...
Read more02/02/25 Latest visit to Megan’s Kitchen Surbiton - This time my wife tried the Honey Avocado Toast with poached egg, she truly loved it and is now one of her favourites at Megan’s, I had the trusted eggs Benedict, lovely coffee and the pooch just loves the complementary dog treats which is a lovely touch - thank you. I couldn’t end this latest review without making reference to Carys the young lady that provided us with the most amazing customer service, Carys was attentive, kind, professional, definitely an asset to Megan’s Surbiton. Thank you Carys, thank you all @ Megan’s Surbiton, your commitment to the local community will reap the rewards.
03/11/24 Again and not a surprise to say that this last visit was as always great, we were seen by Shub who shown great interpersonal skills, professionalism and knowledge. The food as always nicely presented and very tasty, the atmosphere cozy and relaxing, above all being able to reserve and sit at our favourite table which I cannot divulge the table nu,bee as it is our secret 😄 for obvious reasons (having a pooch and being tucked away), all in all thank you Shub and thank you Megan’s Kitchen Surbiton for such a lovely place for the benefit of the local community and afar.
01/08/24 Just thought of mentioning (again) on our most recent family (3 & dog) visit to your premises 01/08/24) how impressed we are with the service, professionalism and friendly staff all round and in particular on this very occasion Emily, our server who was so polite and attentive and obviously the great flavoured and well presented dishes, the great ambience and not forgetting, even our pooch loved the complimentary treats… Thank you for keeping the high standards in everything, you will certainly reap...
Read moreI booked this as a pre-Christmas catch up with a client only because there was no availability at any of the independent restaurants near the Station. The setting and decor is very nice, good mix of tables and it didn’t feel too crowded despite being busy. We ordered an open kebab each and some pigs in blankets to share while we waited. Unfortunately we had to send the pigs in blankets back as they looked aneamic and barely cooked, with some burnt edges where it looked like they'd had a blowtorch to them. The waitress serving us was very good about it and agreed they'd come off the bill. The kebabs were OK, thankfully the sauces they come with are so flavourful it made up for the fact the meat was a bit bland. We were checked on by what I guess was a shift manager after, and she was not so pleasant when taking our dessert order, not smiling just dead pan. I think we were mid-shift so our server had left. I am generally not a fan of these chains and now I remember why. Food is pleasant enough but over £125 for 2 courses and a bottle of wine is punchy for what you're getting. I appreciate it's a busy time of year but still think it's fair to...
