I'm not very into writing bad reviews, but take this a constructive feedback. I walk past Melrose and Morgan many times during the week and today I decided to have a quick lunch with a pal of mine for the first time. We took cheddar tart and fish cake with a selection of three salads. The way the employee greeted and served us was a bit sad. She seemed a bit tired and bored at times. Customer service-wise, it was not the best experience... The counter/table was not clean at all (coffee stains from breakfast probably) The food really needs improvements: fish cakes, tarts were stone-cold and salads were watery and sour (especially the quinoa (?) one with the cucumber in it). We barely ate half plate.
The four stars are only because I'm not that type of reviewer. I think you can improve a lot and you can do more to improve customer service and the way food is served. This shop has...
Read moreI feel like the service and quality has really gone downhill at M&M recently, and I say this as a customer who has easily spent over 2,000 GBP there in the last year. On the service front, not sure if its the loss of some individuals, the rotation of new staff or holidays, but it's really off. I ask if there is any more gnocchi and I'm told its at the other store. Helpful. NOT. I ask for a stamp on my "loyalty" card and the blond woman practically glares at me. And don't get me started on the half sandwiches. The idea was great when they started but they've cut half of the filling so its about the same filling as a tea sandwich (I have pictures, trust me). They need to get back to the fundamentals of good food and good service. It's not like there aren't a dozen other places on the High Street for a flat white and...
Read moreMy partner and I absolutely love visiting Melrose and Morgan!
The prices are pretty high, so for us this is a treat. However, we do feel like the high quality products are very well selected and reliable so they do justify the prices. We've now tried a little bit of everything in their selection and we really love the bread - especially the rye loaf. There's also a rotating selection of delicious fresh food.
The best part however is the service. Everyone is pretty nice, but we have only had in-depth conversation with Zach - he is always so friendly and welcoming. I also appreciate how diligent the staff have been about masking and ensuring that all clients are safe. Overall, this is a great place to visit for great food - whether you are looking for a quick meal or a treat like fancy kombucha /...
