Excellent restoration of a classic east London pub. Restored from a burnt out shell into a lovely craft pub.
Impressed with the craft beer options from New England IPA's to an Imperial Stout at 12% and good prices too compared to other bars in the local area.
Sat on the ground level first, near the bar and was pleased to overhear local brewers enjoying a drink too which says alot.
For my next drink I asked if the rooftop was open and luckily it was. Nice views of the area from views of the Olympic Park to the urban Hackney area to an excellent view of the railway and Station (my favourite haha)
The atmosphere was very relaxed and welcoming and the barman I talked to was knowledgeable and friendly.
If you're not into craft they also have a wide range of other drinks such as lagers, wines and cocktails for example.
There is also a quiet room and a restaurant or events room on the first floor and another smaller cocktail style bar on the rooftop.
Only visited for a quick couple out of curiosity on a small craft beer route and was quite impressed. Will revisit for sure.
Closest transport -
London Overground from Hackney Wick (1 min walk)
London Buses from near the pub
Or you can take a Walk through the Olympic Park & Westfield to get to Stratford...
Read moreMy favourite pub in Hackney Wick by far. Really good selection of beers. Loads of seating areas, including a covered rooftop. Ace decor and art-work. Excellent wine selection and very good bloody marys too, which work well on those more challenging Sundays. They also serve some delicious pop-up Thai food options on the menu at a very reasonable price. The bar staff are always very friendly, which is not always the case in East London. We usually have a bit of banter with the young scouser who works behind the bar. I'm from the north of England myself, so I appreciate a bit of friendly chat with the bar staff when I'm feeling a bit worse for wear.
Finally, they have an ace music policy (Black Star, A Tribe Called Quest etc) and a nice non-rowdy crowd.
I used to work the bar in the Lord Napier when it was still a derelict squat party back in 2005, so it's insane to see it in its current format. Definitely a much needed glow-up.
