1 star because of the owners behaviour. On 20th Oct I went to book a party for my sons 18th. I have booked this venue for many parties and loved the customer service, the food and the venue itself. I saw Mr Moni (apparently he’s the owner and always has been) I have never seen him before nor booked via him. There was another gentleman who took my booking. We discussed the food etc, he gave some new sauce to try out and I also ordered food to takeaway. Very nice person (at the time). I booked my sons party for 26th Nov. Paid £300 deposit cash and got a receipt. On 23rd Oct I called Mr Moni (I have a recording of this conversation) and explained to him that I am going to Bangladesh as my gran is very unwell and that I would have to cancel the party. He was very nice and said no problem and that he would refund me the £300. I told him I will collect the money after I return. He said that’s fine. I returned on the 3rd December and called him on 5th December and he was outright rude. Saying we don’t give refunds (this is not on the receipt or was discussed) and I don’t have money on me now and apparently he had bookings for the 26th Nov and had to cancel because I had booked it. I called him on the 23rd of Oct to cancel and he’s telling me that with over a months notice of cancellation he lost out on bookings?! What a load of BS! I knew then he was a scheming man. He wouldn’t listen to what I was saying and said to text him my bank details (which I did) and he still hasn’t paid me. I’m not one to disrespect anyone I paid money, I had to cancel due to personal circumstances and I was even willing to book the venue for a Xmas party! It’s not even the money it’s the principle. I had a gut feeling when I met him that I shouldn’t trust him but you should never judge a book by its cover, right? Should’ve gone with my gut feeling. I am so appalled at the service and this is from the “owner”.
Update: still hasn’t paid me. He said he was going to pay me Monday 12th, nothing. The owner Mr Mridul K Das (moni) was jailed for tax scams and lied to me telling me he sold the business when he actually was in jail. A fraudster on our door steps. Do your research before anything and don’t...
Read moreThe restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere, with comfortable seating. The menu offers a wide selection of traditional dishes from various regions of India, each prepared by an expert chef (who makes a very special chilli sauce) and high-quality ingredients. The flavours are bold and authentic, making for a truly memorable dining experience.
The onion bhajis we had to share were excellent, as was the House Special Chicken Curry and the Sea Bass Mozader (the seabass fillets came with a side of fish skin on, but this was easy to remove, and the fillets had no stray bones). My partner is a bit sensitive to spice, and whilst we chose two meal options that didn’t reference any chilli (some menu options describe the dish as ‘fairy hot’, which we avoided), the dishes were still very hot for people not used to it. However we very much enjoyed the flavours and the ingredients in the meal, and it is excellent value, and clearly a popular restaurant amongst locals and residents around Isle of Dogs. When we visit again, for the sake of my husband, I think we’ll try and ask for the dishes to be adjusted slightly to be less spicy, though they were happy to provide us with extra Raita/yoghurt.
Our mains took 30 minutes to arrive which wasn’t particularly a long wait, but the team kept us updated and apologised for the slightly longer waiting time (we went on a Saturday and they were hosting a large group of people).
It was the excellent food and the kind and attentive staff that made this a very...
Read moreI chose this venue for my engagement party. I booked and paid a deposit to the manager, a man name Azad, on the 25th February 2020 for the 13th of April 2020. However, I put the order on hold due to COVID-19 and my event was postponed until further notice.
October 2020, I went for a walk near the Thames. At that moment, I realised it was rebranded as they had a new restaurant banner. My husband contacted Azad on the phone and asked what was going on. He explained how they have a new owner and our event may not take place. He then asked for a refund, all of a sudden he claimed that he does not work for the restaurant, the previous owner (Kashfi Kamal) is in Bangladesh and won’t be returning to the UK. He refused to give her details and days later I went in myself. After pestering him, he then gave her number to me. It was clear that he was working for the company as he was cleaning tables and had his uniform on. He immediately called my husband and said he is working for the company. What a coincidence!
I contacted Kashfi, she claimed to be the former owner and her ownership ended in November 2019. She explained that there has been a constant change in management. Also, from her understanding, in March 2020 the owner left without notice.
Now where do I go from this ... I’ve been lied to on numerous occasions, I lost out on my deposit, clearly someone has stolen my money and is not willing to own up. I recommend, if you are planning to visit or book this venue, I...
