If you haven’t been here yet, the park lives up to the expectations. It’s a great park to bike, hang out, play around, and spend time with family. It may be hard to park before 5am but usually its fine after that. You can have a great time at the park while enjoying great views of Canary Wharf. Not many tourists around mostly locals and their families. It is quite reasonable sized with many nooks and crannies for a variety of outdoor activities. There are running paths, abandoned railway bridges, knolls, rocks, , trees, flowers, statues, memorials, and bike routes. Those are just the permanent fixtures. On some days they have festival events and stages and people performing or selling things but you need to check in advance. The park has many hidden gems and it would take days to explore the whole thing. There are playgrounds for kids and adults alike. There are soccer fields and basketball courts and cricket marking on the grass. Only thing to notice is that no barbecues are allowed at the park. Other very close by places of interest are Greenwich Market, Cutty Shark and...
Read moreBased in the south-eastern part of the Isle of Dogs, Millwall Park is the largest on the island, within it caters to a few things ranging from a outdoor fitness area to two designated playgrounds with plenty of green for sport actives.
There are a few entrances/exits, the main one would be via Manchester Road but the others would be located on East Ferry Road and Stebondale Street but you can go through Mudchute Park and Farm too.
There are local buses nearby, bus stops Island Gardens (Stop D and J) which caters to the bus D7, which starts/ends from Poplar/All Saints Church to Mile End, the 135 which starts/ends from Crossharbour Asda to Old Street Station (Moorfields Eye Hospital) and the N550, which starts/ends at Trafalgar Square to Canning Town Station.
You could also get here via 135, 277(N) Millwall Park (Stop L), Mudchute Station Spindrift Ave (Stop MB) or Island Gardens (DLR) and lastly the Greenwich Foot Tunnel of course.
All in all, worth a look if you're...
Read moreThe playground was closed for so long and the rumor is cost hundreds of thousands of pounds but the result although better than what it was does not justify the cost nor time. Another disappointing Isle of Dogs playground project. For all the money IOD contributes to the Tower Hamlet's council and it's CIL due to all the non-stop developing, the Island never seems to reap any substantial benefits. And someone needs to be checking the amount Tower Hamlets spends on these projects as the designer for this play space must be laughing all the way to the bank at how little they did and how much they were paid. There's something very wrong with this and it keeps happening. People need to be asking questions and...
