“I always ask my staff to please treat the customers the same way you want to be treated when going out.”
This above statement was made by the female assistant/owner of this establishment and they are doing nothing to be part of the community apart from isolating and making customers feel very unwelcome.
We were all out as a family having a wonderfully visit around the farm feeding the many animals, when we decided to grab a drink from the Mudchute kitchen.
Once inside the premises, a young parent (I spotted her several times around farm grounds on her own) was behind us with their buggy waiting, the female assistant leaned across her till and shouted ‘see sign, buggy’s outside’
The young woman left, red faced with her infant who was fast asleep in the buggy. It was a hot day and I can only assume at this point, she merely couldn’t leave her baby outside asleep, so came into the premises to purchase refreshments, from what I could see there was no health & safety issues from a buggy being inside and there was plenty of room, in fact at 4pm it was empty inside. But this young mum was instructed bluntly to take the buggy outside, now I ask you all, 1. Who would leave their sleeping baby outside whilst they went indoors without a good view of the buggy? No one!!
When I asked the assistant ‘why ask her to go out, that’s not fair & I feel she is on her own with a sleeping baby, how is she meant get some much needed refreshment from the the only option of counter service?’ And the response I got was ‘what’s the problem! The sign clearly says no buggy’s! Seriously guys that’s exactly what was said.
Well, I will leave it up to my fellow parents with small children to decide, but we will not enter these unfriendly premises again & will bring pack ups.
Please don’t be out off the rest of Mudchute farm as it’s brilliant for all the family, as the rest of the staff around the community farm are all wonderful, helpful and clearly vested in making your visit a lovely experience - I think the owners of the cafe (Mudchute kitchen) need to take note! And learn some empathy and manners.
P. S we approached the young mum and offered to watch her pram, and join us whilst I sent hubby back in for refreshments for her as I was still annoyed at this point and dare not enter.
The other female member of staff was equally rude, pushing past people eating without a word to water plants around the outside eating...
Read moreWe came here after visiting the pet corner. This wasn’t the first time we came. Normally we order few drinks and then top up with some dessert/ice cream or fries, depending on how we feel. We almost always bring food for the baby because she won’t eat the food in the cafe which is fine. Today though we brought extra sandwiches for ourselves while my husband went in to buy few drinks. We knew we would buy more stuffs as the meal went on because we love to indulge ourselves when we’re out and about. But while my husband was ordering inside, this rude lady came up to me and my daughter and shouted in front of the whole customers and said ‘this is private area. If you want to do picnic, go outside. There’s place for picnic there’. I was so shocked at the way she spoke to us that I couldn’t even reply properly-just said that my husband is inside. She said ‘then, it’s okay’. After that, she muttered in her own foreign language which in our culture would be considered very rude. I would have wished she asked first before approaching us in such an abrupt manner. Truly embarrassing and unnecessary!! We decided not to order anything from the kitchen following this incident as it’s totally not worth a penny for the treatment we received! Gutted with such hospitality at this nice farm garden which naturally should be exemplary and warming, especially with...
Read moreThe cafe has been taken over by new management and is so disappointing.. it used to be such a charming place with top quality food, lovely chips and breads..now kitchen is incredibly dirty as well as around the till, as others mentioned I cannot imagine that it passes any standards, the food is very poor quality and presentation, short walk to Asda would get you a better meal for a cheaper price. There was lots of junk food in front of the tills where it used to be freshly made homemade cakes. Also, in an hour I've seen so many incidents with customers- incorrect orders delivered at the table, customers leaving in anger due to conflicts with the staff, complaints for not receiving food or receivingpoor quality food.. overall, it was very disappointing that something that used to be such a lovely place has been completely ruined. Do not...
