PizzaExpress — Restaurant in London

Over priced, over rated & nothing express as the name says! Having gone to multiple pizza express restaurants over the years in different locations they all feel like they are going downhill in every regard, but todays experience in the Cheam restaurant was the final time we would consider this chain of restaurants. Arriving at 4pm eating at 5:15 all The tables with families had the same look and same issues with their hungry frustrated kids. Only a handful of customers when we arrived definitely more staff than customers (10 -12 customers max, 3 tables) yet took 15mins and multiple requests just to get a drink, food was ridiculously slow, so slow in fact we left before deserts as part of the kids menus. When informing the manageress Abi having spoken to multiple waiters as to what was causing the delays and why they are so slow she shrugged her shoulders and gave the blank expression of "i dont care, i dont know, why you even asking me" Nobody asked if we wanted a further drink, if our food was ok, did the kids want their deserts or do we want to see the deserts Menu-thats rubbish service! As the restaurant filled virtually every customer was trying to get a waiter / waitress attention for basic service

Dis-interested staff (apart from 1 waitress who showed good customer service), noticablly inexperienced managerss, poorly run in almost every regard, all you can say is it...

Absolutely dreadful experience. Firstly, my friend showed her birthday voucher enabling us to get a bottle of prosecco. The manager came over and apologised that he couldn't accept it that we were only entitled to deserts. We counter claimed that the voucher said otherwise so he nicely apologised and gave us a bottle of prosecco. Secondly, the waitress asked us as soon as the pizza was placed in front of us if we wanted a pudding. We obviously said not sure yet. Once we had finished the starters and dessert we asked for 3 x coffee's but were told the coffee machine had been switched off as we had said no to deserts !!! But that it could be switched on again if we were willing to wait. We were not impressed as the restaurant was supposed to be open until 11pm according to the website and the time was only 9:30pm. So we left and went to a fab Italian restaurant (Mimi e Coco) 3 doors down who allowed us to have just coffes *the staff were amazing and atmosphere very warm and welcoming). Wish we had gone there in the first place, which we plan to soon. I truly won't visit Pizza Express Cheam again which is sad to say as I have frequently visited the Wimbledon Village branch for...

Always a pleasant experience - staff have always made a table available for us despite not booking in advance. The staff are always very friendly and seem to manage busy periods very well. The restaurant is clean as are the conveniences. Theres a good range of food on the menu and it's always very tasty however pasta dishes can be cold in the middle (I no longer order the cannelloni for this reason despite it being so delicious).
