Last night, my friends and I had the pleasure of dining at the newly opened restaurant "Mum Likes Thai Food" in Leytonstone. Having previously visited their first Thai restaurant in Bethnal Green, I was intrigued by the rave reviews about the restaurant's stunning interior design. Naturally, my curiosity led us on a journey from City Road, Islington to Leytonstone, which took us roughly 35 minutes by car. Fortunately, parking was a breeze, and for those who prefer public transportation, the restaurant is conveniently located only a two-minute walk from the underground station.
Stepping inside, the restaurant's meticulous design immediately caught our attention, exuding an ambiance that was both serene and inviting, setting it apart from other establishments I have frequented. Eager to delve into the extraordinary flavours of Thai cuisine, we ordered several dishes from the menu, including the Pad Thai Koong, which happens to be my absolute favourite. Whenever I visit Thailand, I make it a point to indulge in at least one plate of Pad Thai daily. Finding an authentic and well-prepared version in London is no easy feat, and I can confidently attest that Mum Likes Thai Food exceeded my expectations. The flavours were exquisitely balanced, leaving my taste buds longing for more. I must confess that, despite my near-perfect rating, I reserved a fraction of a point due to my lighthearted realisation that this restaurant is, in fact, not found in Thailand itself but nestled within the heart of London. Furthermore, the chilly weather last night, while undoubtedly unrelated to the restaurant, contributed to this whimsical deduction.
While perusing the restaurant's Google profile, I couldn't help but notice the plethora of reviews highlighting intricate details that would undoubtedly induce uproarious laughter for days on end in some far-off corners of the world. It's always a delight to observe these small glimpses into the experiences of others :-).
In conclusion, our visit to Mum Likes Thai Food was an incredibly pleasant experience. Not only did we revel in the spacious and tranquil atmosphere, but our food also arrived promptly, thanks to the restaurant's impressive culinary prowess. I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment to anyone in search of an exceptional Thai dining...
Read moreI thought i would treat myself to a takeaway last Saturday after a busy day working. I ordered via Deliveroo. I was shocked by the food that arrived and the quality they allowed to be sent out. It was just before 6pm so I wonder if this factored. For starters I ordered the fried bean curd. Well it was so overfried that it looked and tatsed like corrugated cardboard. No beanscurd was left in that. Also on top of that I don't think it was freshly fried as it had no crisp remaining. Just this dry limp cardboard flavour. It went straight in the bin.
Next was the vegetable red curry. It was supposed to contain aubergine and green and red peppers. What came was a standard red curry sauce. Nothing special. Quite sweet and very runny. All it had in it was lots of bamboo shoots and a couple of small pieces of limp overcooked broccoli with a couple of pieces of tofu.
On opening the dishes I spoke to someone on chat on deliveroo. They told me I needed to speak with the restaurant. I immediately called Mum likes Thai and they told me, to speak with deliveroo. I explained what they had said and she put me on hold to go and speak with her manager. I was then reassured I would get a refund. I didn't. I have contacted both companies 3 times now and they keep passing it back to the other. I just want my money back. The only thing that was edible was the boiled rice which you would expect it to be at...
Read morenew joint on our very own high street. and I couldn’t recommend it more. we went to celebrate our faux anniversary and we were really impressed with the decor and the menu (attached) we spent about £30 a head so not exactly light on the pocket but I can’t say we left disappointed. we will be going back for sure. value for money I would say. plus its halal!
the starters were our favourites. we got quite a few you see (with one main & steamed rice). for starters we ordered prawn crackers, fish cakes, dumplings, squid, and a nice hot soup. our main dish was the classic green curry. can’t go wrong with a classic! it was all delish but my faves were the fish cakes and the soup. I definitely recommend to all. the soup was gorgeous. coconut, chilli and chicken. delightful. I think the fish cakes are a restaurant special and there was just something about them. meaty and full of flavour. they all come with accompanying sauces which are very complementary. finally the main. as I said you can’t go wrong with a classic. it’s one of my fave dishes. chicken wrapped in a lovely coconut sauce.
it was a quiet wednesday night I reckon so the atmosphere wasn’t as lively as I would have liked but this place definitely has the potential. go in and show them some love....
