After reading the good reviews I was so disappointed with the boerewors sausage roll...I couldn't cut through the pastry..it was tough as hell. Sent it back after battling to cut the second piece off it. Even blunt cutlery will cut through fresh pastry...but this was microwaved and microwaved pastry is rarely any good. Very sad day for me.....I was so looking forward to some boerie.....😭😭 The lady serving me was lovely though. EDIT : Having read the response from the owner, that's not exactly how things went down. Allow me to elucidate: I asked for a borewors sausage roll, and it appears I was served a pork and mustard sausage roll without me knowing it. (No one told me that the boerewors roll was not available) I didn't get to taste what was in the roll anyway as I only had one piece of the pastry....I was unable to separate the second piece of pastry from the roll, which is when I gave up. (After sawing through the pastry for a good minute or so) The lady did offer to replace the roll but I declined as she was unable to guarantee that there would be any improvement. At this point , "Once bitten, twice shy" kicked in. At no stage was I advised it was overcooked, although it begs the question : How does one overcook a roll when this is the standard warming method and microwaves have timers? I had to wait a good 15 minutes before I was able to point out the problem. I had pushed the plate to the opposite edge of the table in the hope that someone would notice the partially hacked pastry and that I was not eating it. Maybe I expected too much that the subtle hint would be noticed. I reiterate - the serving lady was quite lovely and did indeed try and rectify the situation, although now that I am aware that I wasn't going to get the boerewors roll that I asked for, it made the purpose of my visit totally pointless. I went to the bakery to enjoy South African fare not British fare. My disappointment has...
Read moreService is non existent. Despite being one of only three customers sitting in and having my 5 month old with me today, the service was really below par. I had a buggy with me and so had to leave my baby at the back of the cafe to go to the counter to order. A lady had ordered a takeaway coffee which was being made as I waited for even a nod of acknowledgment. It was clear that I had left my baby at the back of the room in a buggy and there was no reason my simple order (beans on toast and a capuccino) couldn't have been taken down by memory which would have allowed me to go back to my baby. The place was super quiet. I stood for a full 2/3 minutes without even the flick of an eyelid in my direction and so I left.
Food is good when they are fully stocked but today had no avocado which pretty much renders half the options on the menu without a main ingredient. I was also charged over £2 for a small glass of juice from a carton on my last visit. Really is a shame as food is tasty but they really have alot to address. I can see others...
Read moreSorry to say my partner ordered a cake from here, for my birthday, and they misspelled my name. My partner specifically wrote my name clearly so this would not happen because my name gets misspelled every day.
The cake looked good but I am sorry to say it tasted overly sweet and was very dry. I wanted a fruity cake but they were very stingy with the fruit. Every bite was like taking a mouthful of butter.
I would not order from here again, think twice before getting any kind of custom cakes here. The bakery’s attitude has been rigid and inflexible to the point where they have not even offered store credit, which is shocking. They asked my partner why he did not come back to get the spelling on the corrected. Well, because he had no time - the cake was time sensitive due to our working arrangements that day. What a...
