If you've been drawn in by the pretty decor from the outside or even a recommendation from friends......STOP THERE and turn away!!!
Don't be fooled by the looks the food is below par and the service is shocking!
My birthday meal was ruined!
This place is diabolical and an absolute circus for your money!
The waiters and waitresses are clueless to say the least and the so called "Managers" don't even know what they're managing.
My friend ordered a chicken steak which comes with rice, she didn't fancy rice so wanted to change it for another side she was told they can't do it (but done it in the past for her).
Moving on to the steak I ordered- medium. Arrived cold The steak chips were rock hard and crunchy (assume fried in old oil) So I tell the manager (skinny guy with a beard- rushed off his feet for unknown reasons). Offers no apology and takes the food back to the kitchen. Brings it back out a few minutes later...exact same temperature....I've been for steaks often and it has never come cold- I really want to know what is going on in that kitchen and more importantly how food is going cold from the kitchen to 20 feet to a table. The steak chips exactly how they were the first time. He might as well have slammed the food on the table (serious attitude problem for a front of house manager) walked off and said he will come back to see how the food was, did not return. I called over the waitress and expressed my disappointment. She said she will get it replaced told her to take the chips away and replace it for mash (she was lost in another world) Goes into the kitchen food arrives 15 minutes later. My friend already eaten her meal. Steak arrives (the very same steak- not a replacement! And looked like it had done it's disco in the microwave) missing my side- what on earth am I eating this steak with????!!! So I tell the waitress- she's lost for words, away with the fairies claiming she didn't hear me! So I eat this steak and finish it (regretting ever stepping foot in this place)....the skinny manager brings out the mash I tell him there's no point the main meal is finished- STORMS OFF..... no words!!!!!
Are you expecting professionalism? Customer service? Being welcomed? You have another think coming if you ever plan to go here!
So we are desperate to leave this far from enjoyable restaurant and ask for the bill. A large man marches out of the kitchen with the skinny manager- brings over the bill while the skinny one walks away. They had the cheek to charge us for the side that was returned and never replaced.
So I expressed my disappointment and disaster of a meal with this so called manager quite diplomatically. Rather than offer an apology of any sort he decided to argue that the food was fine because he was the chef in the kitchen (it was all starting to make sense- it was a losing battle) so he went on to display passive aggressive behaviour that he was correct and there couldn't possibly be anything wrong ( hello?! I was the recipient- the Customer!!) Claimed he had been to so many restaurants, I bet he wasn't treated that way in any of them. At one point I thought he was threatening violence.
They all need to educate themselves before going on to run a business- or even someone else's. It's a shame the owner can't see what's really going on here. The place is empty for what it displays on the outside and you've got cleaners running the kitchen and bar pretending to be busy- a mere joke!
Ladies and gents in short- If you want good food, service and respect as a customer. Save your money and go elsewhere this place is in desperate need for help and do not deserve your money! won't
I would've given the food ZERO STAR(s) but 1 out of the 2 arrived albeit cold! The service was...
Read moreI had a booking at MyShish in Woodford for a birthday celebration and it turned out to be one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had.
From the start, the manager, Shabz, made things unnecessarily difficult. Despite confirming that I wanted everyone seated together, he told me he would only give us two separate tables because they “didn’t want to clean” the large table. He then claimed it was to “keep the kids separate from the adults,” which was ridiculous and unprofessional — who leaves their children unattended at a restaurant? When I insisted we sit together, he muttered under his breath and gave clear attitude.
After finally seating us all together, about four or five staff members came over one after another asking about a phone that apparently had been left by a previous group. None of us knew anything about it, yet they kept returning to ask the same question. This constant interruption completely ruined the flow of our evening — were we there for a meal or to help find someone’s phone? If the tables had been cleaned and reset properly, the missing phone would have been found immediately, and we wouldn’t have been disturbed multiple times. It just showed how poorly managed and unhygienic the restaurant was.
There were also dirty cups, straws, and used cutlery still left on the table when we sat down, which was unacceptable for any restaurant. It was clear that nothing had been properly cleaned or prepared for the next party, and it’s shocking that the manager allowed guests to be seated like that.
We were left waiting nearly 45 minutes before anyone took our drink order — and that only happened because I had to get up several times to get someone’s attention. When the drinks eventually arrived, Shabz himself brought them over, yet didn’t even know what the drinks were called and still managed to miss half of them, despite us repeating the order twice. Instead of checking or apologising, he simply walked off mid-conversation, leaving us again with no server.
Later, another staff member came over with a random tray of food, asking rudely who it belonged to — even though we hadn’t placed our food order yet. I had to get up once again to find someone to actually take our order. Thankfully, a lovely lady in a white shirt came to help. She was polite, apologised for the mess, and said she’d escalate it to a higher manager (which I appreciated).
After ordering, the food took another 30 minutes to arrive — some of it was cold, misplaced, and missing sides and mains. When the sides finally showed up, most people were fed of waiting and some left without food. The whole experience was chaotic and frustrating from start to finish.
To make matters worse, throughout all this, the manager was laughing on the phone and filming himself, instead of managing his staff or checking on customers. The restaurant wasn’t even busy — only about four tables were occupied — so there was absolutely no excuse for such poor service.
This experience completely ruined what was meant to be a special birthday celebration. Everyone left disappointed and upset. Unless you want your occasion ruined, I do not recommend MyShish Woodford. The manager, Shabz, clearly lacks the professionalism, training, and attitude needed for a front-of-house role. Maybe he should take lessons from the kind lady in white, who was the only redeeming part...
Read moreI recently dined at MyShish in London and had a fantastic experience. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. The restaurant was nicely laid out with elegant decor and top tier ambient lighting that made the space feel modern yet intimate.
Free parking was a big bonus, especially in London, and the fact that all food is halal gave us peace of mind.
For starters, I had the hummus with warm bread. The hummus was smooth and tasty, but the soft and fresh bread really stood out. I also tried the pulled beef bao bun. The bun was soft and slightly sweet, and the beef was slow cooked to perfection. It was tender, juicy, and had a subtle kick of spice. A very satisfying start to the meal.
For mains, I went with the prime rib eye steak cooked medium rare, served with peppercorn sauce and chips. The steak was beautiful, juicy, tender, and perfectly pink inside. The peppercorn sauce was creamy with just the right amount of heat. The chips were crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and well seasoned. I also ordered a side of mac and cheese which was creamy, cheesy, and cooked just right. Every part of the meal was excellent.
To drink, I had the Unicorns Ride mocktail. The lychee flavour really came through and hit the spot. It was delicious, though at nine pounds it felt slightly expensive for the size. I just wish the glass had been a bit bigger.
Service was a real highlight. I want to mention the waitress who served us. She was a tall South Asian lady with her hair tied back and what I believe was a tattoo on her wrist. She was respectful, professional, and calm even while dealing with a very difficult family of four seated next to us. The parents were shockingly rude, asking awkward questions about how food was cooked, finishing most of their meal, and then complaining to try and get a discount. It was uncomfortable to watch, and I wanted to say something, but my family convinced me not to. Despite their behaviour, the waitress handled them with grace and professionalism. People in hospitality should never be treated like that. I hope she knows she did a fantastic job and made our evening much better.
Another great touch is the shisha bar located at the back of the restaurant. It is a relaxing space designed with the same attention to atmosphere and detail as the main dining area. A perfect way to wind down after a great meal.
As someone who works in the NHS, I also made use of the ten percent discount, which I already knew about before visiting. It was a thoughtful gesture and very much appreciated.
All in all, MyShish delivered a high quality experience from start to finish. Friendly staff, a beautifully designed setting, flavourful halal food, and truly impressive service. With the added perks of free parking, a lovely shisha lounge, and NHS discount, it is a complete evening experience. I will definitely be returning and highly recommend it to others looking for a...
