The absolute WORST customer service I have ever seen! We had a group of 7 people coming from various states in the US, traveling to London. We were super excited, and travelled for days across the pond and across town by various trains, only to be greeted by the most unwelcoming host EVER, Travis. Travis did not look a day over 16, and he had an attitude the entire time. We booked our trip in advance, and upon our arrival, we were told that we could only stay a max of 1 night (not the 6 nights we booked) all because of some RANDOM rule Travis made up once he looked at our IDās, saying that weāre limited to a 1 night stay because a couple people in our party was 40+ years of age! This was never disclosed as an issue previously, nor was it disclosed on their website, as we were forthright about our ages from the start; however, this was a personal issue for Travis, and after spending DAYS traveling to London to experience England, this is how we were greeted. Unbelievable! Travis is the most uncompassionate and insensitive person I have ever met, and he does not belong working in any type of customer service industry, such as hospitality, because he has ZERO hospitality or customer service skills.||||The last straw was when he pointed the finger at us and told us it was our fault that we did not read their age maximum guideline correctly (which, as I mentioned previously, is posted NOWHERE on their website. Their website only mentions that they cater to people under the age of 38 - it does not state that people over 40 cannot stay there. Also, we lost our 15% deposit on the room, and the worst part of it all was that Travis The Rude Fool wanted to charge us ADDITIONAL money to stay there the 1 night he was soooo gracious to allow us (heavy sarcasm). When we asked to speak to a manager, he said he was he most superior person present, which must be a lie because this kid looks like heās straight out of the 10th grade. He finally admitted that thereās a manager, but would not give us the managerās name. Totally ridiculous! Who does that in the customer service industry?!?!||||Finally, Travis confirmed with his manager that they did confirm with use beforehand that they would allow us to stay there the full 6 nights we had planned despite a couple people in our group being 40+. At that point, we were our how we had been treated and booked another hostel closer to the center of town, in a really nice part of town, not the dirty hood area of town that lame excuse of a hostel was located. The hostel itself was disgusting: the lobby had dirty furniture, it smelled old and musty, and I felt like we were in the area of town where drug deals went down. Save your sanity and skip that place, because they have never heard of the phrase āthe customer is always right!ā I would give them ZERO or NEGATIVE stars...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe've had a lovely Christmas and New Year's experience here last yearš The staff is extremely friendly, helpful, and always ready to party and hang. It was amazing! The BBQ was mind-blowing, and the other travellers made our stay a real pleasure. We became a little family within the two weeks of our stay.
The toilets were a little narrow and at times a little dirty, but the staff has always tried their best to keep it clean and tidy. You don't expect a luxury bathroom in a hostel above a pubš kitchen was okay equipped, there were two fridges to use, and a cosy rooftop with benches and a sofa for lovely midnight conversations and sharing a dinner. The windows in the dorms are very old, as is the whole building. I'd recommend to ask for a second blanket as it was pretty chilly from time to time. The beds were okay and big enough, there are bunk beds (for 2, luckily not 3 as in so many other hostels in London). And you should buy ear plugs in advance :D The hostel is easy to reach by bus and underground. But mind that you won't be able to leave in time for very early flights, as the underground is closed till 6am-ish. There is a Superdrug, Waitress and Lidl store within short walking distance, and you should try the burgers from across the street. Very delicious š and I am not...
Read moreThe conditions are very basic and scruffy, it is 40 minutes from the town centre, and I wouldn't have minded all of that for less than £10/night. What I did mind was the incompetence of the staff. The bartender/receptionist told me that it was open until 1am and that I could collect my £20 deposit for the key and the stuff I had left behind the bar for her to keep an eye on any time before then. I told her that I had to leave at 6am the next day and she told me that would be no problem. I arrived back at 12:30 and the pub was completely closed, with the lights off, no one around, and no one answering the phone. I entered through the back entrance and, while complaining to some fellow guests about what had happened and the fact that I would now miss my train, an ex-employee who had access to the bar overheard and let me in to collect my stuff. ||When I left at 6am the next day, through the back entrance as the receptionist advised, I discovered that the gate cannot be unlocked without a key (which I had already had to return the previous night) and would have had to climb over the wall had someone else not coincidentally opened the gate in the opposite direction.||||Do...
