I have eaten here before several times and generaly the food has been nice and staff have been welcoming. Today I ordered food for four people, it was a special occasion as we were hosting some close friends for EID. I was told the food will be delivered in 40-45 minutes. We waited for almost an hour, when called they said the delivery person just left. 10 minutes later the delivery man arrived, our drama starts, I have done bullet points to make things easier.
FOOD The food was lukewarm to cold Nan bread was cold and soggy like it had been left in the foil baf gor sometime, they should have kept it on a hot plate. The Coke was out of date, date marked 30/03/2024, the date I ordered was 12/04/2024, it was 13 days out of date. Most of the popadums were all broken in to little pieces. King Prawn Biryani I orderd, I was charged near £14 only there was probably one King Prawn chopped in to tiny little pieces, the container was full of oily rice.
MY CALL TO RESTUARANT I called the restuarant, hoping since I have been a regular they will deal with this matter in a sincere manner. I complained the Coke was out of date, popodums all crushed up, food was warm to cold, I just spent £80 can they please do something about this.
The man who answered the phone passed me on to another person, I assumed the owner, the owner came on to the phone and said that the Coke was complimentary, I said whats that got to do with the fact that its out of date. He replied saying he is holding on to a bottle of coke infront of him that is still in date, I didnt know whether to laugh or cry, Instead of appologising and making me feel better he was telling me the Coke he had was in date, I replied by saying, but the coke bottle I had was out of date. He continued to argue the Coke bottle he was holding was in date and that the supplier must have given him a bottle out of date. I told him he shold check the quality of his food and supplies and make sure its all in date, thats his obligation as far as Trading Standard is concerened, he didnt seem too bothered.
IS THE RESTURANT RESELLING USED FOOD ? The whole experience made me wonder, someone who is so relaxed about the expiry of his food supply how much is he focused on quality, on the ingredents his Chef uses, can we honestly say the food he takes back from peoples table he is not reselling it again, I mean we are talking about a person who is justifying that the coke bottle he supplied to me isnt out of date because he his holding one in date in his restuarant. I mean we cant rule it out given the experience, we cant rule it out, right!
By now I was getting very upset, my guest were telling me to leave it and I wanted to, all i was really looking for was for someone to accept, to acknowledge that an error was made and that they will do something about it. Anyway he said he is sending the driver again.
When his driver arrived guess what he didnt bring the coke instead he took the Coke back and no replacement.
I called the restuarant immediately and said, I complained about the coke and you sent us a bag full of those cheap popadums that are like 10p,
WHAT WAS I LOOKING FOR ! I want to make it clear, I am not looking for free Coke, i was actually just after the resturant to accept it was an error, take ownership of the problem which despite my many attempts they refused to take this chance and avoid this review.
WHAT WAS NURJENNA's RESPONSE Nurjenna restuarant said the Coke was complimentary and hence they took it back and the Popadums were on the house. So hang on a minute, you give us an out of date Complimentary Coke Bottle and than to compensate it you replace it with some CHEAP OILY POPODUMS, thats crazy man. I told the restuarant this is against Trading Standards to supply goods that are out of date, he wasnt bothred, I told him I will leave a bad review he said Ok, I said would you like to fix this, he said there is nothing to Fix.
I put it to you, with such relax attitude towards Hygiene, can they resell used food from other customers table, my...
Read moreI made an online order using their website and collected it in person. Order placed and collected on 26 Sep 2020 with order number #4995.
I must say, I am quite sad to give this restaurant 2 stars as they did many things right. I will start off with the positives. I made the order using their online website, which was very easy and smooth. I received a confirmation email telling me the time my food would be ready and then a second email which told me the food was ready for collection. When I collected it from the restaurant, I received excellent customer service - the staff were very polite, helpful and deferential. I was in and out in 5 mins.
Now onto the food... I received generous portions and complimentary salad and yoghurt, which was fantastic. The special fried rice was good, though the peas could have been cooked a little more. The tandoori lamb chops could have been juicer but the taste was good. This was due to using lower grade chops. But what really let this meal down was the butter chicken. What a monstrosity of a dish! I am a butter chicken enthusiast - it is a dish I appraise restaurants by and I am so sad to say that it was horrible. It was SO SWEET and clearly catered towards the western palate; it was so sweet, so inauthentic, laden with coconut pieces, that I ended up throwing it away. A real shame. I don't think I will be returning. It is not an authentic restaurant; I can still taste the sweetest in my mouth and it is...
Read moreWent last night and I’m truly shocked. The food was good, pretty standard stuff. However, when I received the bill I saw that we were charged for the poppadoms and chutneys. I didn’t order these! I was asked ‘would you like some poppadoms?’ I said sure, assuming like all Indian restaurants that this was just included in but in the end I was charged an extra £3.80! Very scummy. The restaurant was completely empty on a Friday evening, I get why. Bad practices.
Edit after owner response: They admit happily that they charge you sneakily as other reviewers mention. They are also incredibly rude. I give plenty of 5 star reviews to some amazing places, and I usually give the benefit of the doubt and add a few stars to a lot of places. Don’t be rude, have some humility. You put in sneaky charges, not me.
They have responded again and accused me of being paid or fake? I wish someone would pay me. I have over 70 reviews in many countries at that, and plenty of 5 star reviews! You can look at other low reviews where the owner is very rude and in fact says a customer is more of a primark and Lidl fan than eating out. They need to accept the fact they charge people for chutney and poppadoms (which are removed before the mains arrive) without notifying you. This is bad...
