DANGER: FOOD POISONING Review update: 15/10/2023 I am updating this review after vomiting and not being able to sleep due to nausea that lasted for hours. I had dinner on the night prior to this. I am never eating there again. Review update: 10/09/2023 - No air conditioning. The place is hot and sticky during summer. - The lighting in this pub is getting dimmer and dimmer because nobody replaces the lights that are either broken and need replacing. - Dirty tables and chairs. Same problems as always: Lazy managers, who are always absent, have no intention of fixing such problems. Unfortunately they are not ready for that conversation. Review Update: 6/5/2023 Two stars for the positives. - The drinks are good. - The food is good. Knocked off three stars for the following reasons: The staff are awful. Poorly trained and rude. There is always new staff here who don't know what they are doing. They never seem to know what drinks to serve. I'm a regular here. I know what drinks I order for my friends as well as for myself. So whenever I ask for a certain drink they always say "We don't serve that." That's rubbish. Yet they insist that such a drink doesn't exist. This is when I request to speak to the manager since he is more informed of the drinks than the staff. The manager has to intervene to deal with something simple. This has happened several times now. It's ridiculous. This is because the managers are so lazy they don't bother to train their staff properly. Poorly trained staff leads to poor customer service. Sort yourselves out. Updated review: 6/2/2023 Previously I used to be a regular here because the previous manager did a fantastic job of running this pub efficiently. But now that's no longer the case. Now that the previous manager is gone, whoever this new manager is, is abysmal. The staff are rude. There is always new staff who are not trained and don't know what they are doing. They are so rude and lazy. Every time I order a certain drink their immediate response is "We don't sell that" and I have to remind them that they do. Whether it's a beer or a cider they claim they don't have it. My friends and I have been buying these drinks in this pub for years. It's clear they can't be bothered to get the drinks or keep the fridges stocked. They constantly complain to me that they have to go "all the way downstairs" to get it. This is not professional customer service. It's disgusting. I do NOT want to hear that when I go anywhere. I don't tolerate such bad attitude. The service of the food has gone downhill too. As we know, the kitchen closes at 11pm. On two occasions my friends wanted to order some food even though it was before 11pm and the staff would say "No. The kitchen is closed." When in fact it wasn't. Due to such a response we had to complain to the manager who eventually made the staff take their orders. This is not one individual we're talking about here, it's every single staff member who start working here untrained and have the nerve to mistreat customers. Such rudeness from staff is unacceptable. The service has also slowed down. The lack of hospitality here is ruining this pub. The place is dirty and needs tidying. Nearly every single time I come here there are tables that need cleaning even when the pub is not busy. Another clear indication of the lack of attention from the staff. They need to sort themselves out because right now things need improving, quickly.

The usual Wetherspoon with good food but sticky tables. My advice for customers in case you pay by card, get table and order through the app. It will save you time in a queue at the bar and you will get your food and drinks served to you to the table. Improvement required by staff: please clean the tables regularly, they are so sticky, they need a good wipe. Photos attached for katsu carry (so delicioussssss!), fish and chips and limited Korean burger. They also have great pizza (no photo this time).

This had to be the best local weatherspoons, it offers very cheap meals and drinks. Located on Southgate High Road, this has been the go to for the regulars over the years. The all-day breakfast went down a treat, perfect proportions and very tasty. Customer service is always a pleasure. 5* Would recommend from overall experiences.

Went here on Saturday, 11th February 2023, we haven't been for a while since the old manager left. The pub was nearly empty for a Saturday night, which is unusual for this pub we ordered food (6 of us) it took over 45 minutes to come had to ask were the food was.when it finally arrived the steak & kidney pudding was like a rock you couldn't put the knife through it, the curry came up and the nan was as though it had been taken out of the pack and thrown on the plate the rest of the food was luke warm. I told the waiter who returned the pie and the nan.when we received our food back we asked for the gravy that came with the meal to be told it was changeable.. I disagreed and said I wanted it also when the curry came back that was now luke warm and the nan was hot. We had finished our food, and the waiter came over laughing with a small pot of gravey.I said to him you must be having a laugh and asked to see the manager to be told they were behind the bar, I approached man behind the bar as asked if there was a manager to be told yes there are 3 of us tonight.. I tried to explain to him and he then went off to get a woman. I then told her and she firstley said you should have complained i advised her i fid to the waiter who served me and told her that not only us had sent foid back other tables had. She then walked into the kitchen and came back and said you CANNOT HAVE A REFUND you can have desert for free or a round of drinks I refused as didn't trust what they would do to it. I asked for her name but again she refused and said I DO NOT HAVE TO GIVE YOU MY NAME. £58.00 for absolutely disgusting food and disgraceful service from not only the waiting staff but to the management..Will definitely not be going there anymore ... it is not even worth 1 star

Although the bathroom facilities have recently been modernised, the pub is otherwise much unchanged and is still a bit 'traditional' with wooden tables and chairs but includes soft seating areas also. It's not in anyway shabby but it could benefit from an interior face-lift decor wise. It's nevertheless a good size pub with ample seating and is comfortable, relaxed and even 'cosy'.

The menu and bar offers a surprisingly wide selection of good food, beer, spirits and other refreshments. It's popularity is in no small measure to it's good high street location within a short walk of Southgate tube. and it's food and drink are very reasonably priced.

A pint of beer can be had for as low as £1.99 and a chicken tikka massala with rice, naan bread and a popadum is under £12 including an alcoholic drink. That's pretty hard to beat, and it was very tasty too. I've eaten there before and never had a bad meal. I did have to return something once as it wasn't hot but the staff were great, immediately arranged to replace it, apologised and even offered a courtesy drink for the inconvenience.

As above, the staff are all very friendly, helpful and efficient. Whilst it's decor is a bit staid and it's perhaps not a 'gastro pub' it nevertheless has its own atmosphere, it offers outstanding value and appears to have a loyal...
