I read the reviews and wonder if I have eaten in the same restaurant everybody else has? The service was odd, starters and main come out at the same time, which is unusual, specially because the tables are rather small. At some point this waiter come to our table and started moving our glasses away to the other side, like if he was expecting two more guests to join us.I giggled and turned it into a joke but I have no idea what possessed him to approach our table and do that without being asked. The food was so spicy that it had no flavour whatsoever, from the Salad - first time I eat a Thai salad with carrots and cabbage and chilli, I have had it multiple times and it is normally crunchy and delicious, with papaya and lettuce and crushed cashew nuts: my salad was really mushy and wet, more like a cold soup..🤔 The mains were so spicy that I couldn't eat my noodles, I couldn't taste anything but chilli and I do like chilli but I also like food with it. I should have been observant and realise that there was no Thai customers, unlike my local restaurant where I am the only European! Overall the food was below average, service was mediocre and I agree with the reviews stating that you can only eat here and be happy if you don't have a clue what Thai food is. I can cook better Thai...
Read moreVisited last night and had the mixed starter platter, duck in red curry sauce and two cocktails. My partner had the sea bass. Starters were very ordinary and unexciting - deep fried out of the freezer, I would guess. Strangely, they were served with a parsley and carnation garnish that covered most of the plate and 2 prawn crackers! The duck was fatty and tough and the red curry too heavy on the chilli. The sea bass was dry and small and, again, too heavy on chilli. The cocktails were served in a plain tumbler, a toothpick skewered with 2 small pieces of pineapple and 1 of lychee comprised the garnish. - both sunk in the bottom of the drink. An umbrella was added to the first - not the second. An extra charge was added as we substituted coconut for Thai rice. On complaining I was advised that they would take way my half eaten dish and make the sauce cooler! I refused! Eventually, after some surly debate during which it was self evident that the duck was mainly uneaten and no apology £3 was refunded for the rice. £50 for an unappetising, badly prepared and presented meal and a surly, unhelpful response...
Read moreI rarely leave reviews but the food I received from O’s Thai Cafe was so disappointing I had to write something. I ordered a Massaman Curry and coconut rice. The curry was watery, flavourless and contained a couple of bits of potato and no other veg. Totally lacklustre and felt like no effort at all was made in making it. I make this order whenever I get Thai food and this was easily the worst massaman curry I’ve had in London. Just nothing good to say about it at all. Thai curry’s are supposed to be full of flavour, and this had none. I wouldn’t be surprised if this came out of the microwave either. Then they charge you for the curry, and extra for the protein you choose, making it more expensive than most other local Thai places, and for lower quality food. Then to top it off the coconut rice didn’t have a hint of coconut in it, so you’re paying extra for what is in reality jasmine rice.
If you want good Thai food that is full of flavour and feels like it’s made with care, based on my experience tonight, avoid O’s. It didn’t go in the bin as not to waste the food but it really was so bland I...
