It’s a real shame to rate this cute little cafe so low as our previous experience was very pleasant and the food and drinks were served promptly by a member of staff who enjoyed what they did, was enthusiastic and smiled.
Unfortunately our most recent experience was not so pleasant. The girl behind the counter was quite abrupt and was incapable of smiling. When she brought our coffees down to us after waiting for 10 minutes....still no sign of the food. Another couple came in, sat down and were given their cakes...we were still waiting for our food. My colleague commented to me about the time it was taking, the waitress heard this and turned around swiftly and barked ‘they take 5 minutes!’ when we had certainly been there for at least 15minutes. Finally when the food arrived, it was pretty much thrown at us. The waitress just plonked it down and walked off, she said absolutely nothing, no pleasantries. ‘Enjoy your food’ ‘Can I get you anything else?’ Costs nothing and makes a big difference. I managed to catch her eye when she was coming back out of the kitchen to ask for some mayonnaise as I felt the bagel needed it. When she came back with the mayonnaise, again, this was just plonked on the table. She had a severe attitude problem and does this little Café...
Read moreHad been looking forward to visiting this place as the reviews looked good. But it was disappointing! Although the staff are friendly and the decor is nice, and it's clean, the place is small and the food menu is very expensive and very limited - snacks only, like croissants and sausage rolls, and no hot breakfasts like bacon sandwich or omelette. Even on a Saturday. I had an oat latte and it tasted good, but wasn't quite hot enough and I didn't like that they did the hipster thing of serving it in a glass with no handle. I ordered a cinnamon bun (a weekend special) and it was £4 and tiny - commercial sized, like a 4-pack you'd buy in Tesco, whereas I was expecting something proper bakery-sized. It just didn't quite hit the spot. The garden is pretty and that's where most seats are. There are 3 small tables inside and it could be nice place to work if you can get one of those tables. Although quite chilly! We spent £17 on two coffees, a croissant and a bun and it wasn't worth that price. Glad we tried it but Le Délice is still our favourite café...
Read moreWhat a waste of a nice outing. Coffee was okay albeit both very small but the food highly overpriced and you definitely do not get your moneys worth. I ordered the quesadilla which was the most expensive thing on the menu at almost 9£ and is meant to be simple comfort street food. I got the tiniest plate with the tiniest 3 triangles with the least filling you can imagine. The wrap was raw NOT toasted, the cheese in it was not melted and there was just so very little of the mushroom mixture in it. On the side, the chimmichurri - just chopped parsley with way too much oil which actually soaked the quesadilla - and salsa where completely tasteless. We were very disappointed especially because it’s such a simple dish to get right and the amount of money we paid for it. Same for the toastie supposedly meant to have marmite caramelised onions as well as cheese but not much of it. Very stingy place. Don’t go if you value what you spend the little extra money you have on, totally not worth it. The pastries did look nice but 5£ for a...
