This was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had.
Upon being seated we were then just ignored. After some time we asked for a menu. Given no time at all to look at the menu we were asked what we would like to order. I asked for some water whilst we looked at the menu's. After some more time we caught the attention of the staff and ordered. The water had still not arrived so I made a point of ordering some when we placed our oder. I asked for no ice in the drink I ordered and when my drink arrived it had ice in. The water still had not arrived either so when I made a complaint about the ice in my drink I asked again for water. I watched the staff member take my drink back to the bar and then witnessed the bar tender pick the ice out with his hand and then the drink was brought back to me. Half way through eating our starter our main meal arrived. I did not understand why our main meal arrived before we had even finished eating our starter. I had also asked for no pomegranate dressing on my salad and I could very clearly see and smell it on my main meal. Eventually I caught one of the servers attention and mentioned the mistake to which I was told "ok I'll take this back to the kitchen and scrape off the salad and bring it back to you and put a fresh salad in a bowl." What... Seriously.. Picking ice out with your bare hands was bad enough now scraping food off my plate and bringing it back to me!! I had ordered chicken casserole and I have never in my life had a chicken casserole that had no wetness to it. This was literally dry chicken meat on a plate with a few peppers and onions. Which was terrible enough but the fact that it was also completely over powered by the taste of pomegranate dressing that was still all over my plate and food made it even worse!! My meal also stated on the menu it came with bulgar and rice, neither of which arrived.
Needless to say I would never ever return. And I would never ever recommend this restaurant to anyone ever.
The service by the team of staff was absolutely disgusting and disgraceful. The older lady was the worst. She was so abrupt and rude. But over all members of staff were dismissive, rude and unwelcoming.
Never once did anyone ever ask us if we were ok or if the meal was ok. Even when I tried to mention I was not happy when requesting the bill, no acknowledgement of this was made other than talking over me and changing the conversation.
You will basically get what you are given in this place regardless of what the menu states or what order you have placed. And if you even try to mention anything of this you are told to deal with it and not upset the bar tender or chef..
No care for the customer being upset!!
Oh, also after leaving I realised I had infact been overcharged...
Read moreWe went to Payiz on Thursday at 9pm. As we knew they were closing at 11 we decided to go ahead and make the food order even those for those that had not arrived. The waiter was very charismatic. When I asked why the food was taking so long I got told by the waiter that took our oder that they were changing the oil. After waiting for around an 1.5 hr the food eventually came round. However, it was no where near what we ordered initially. They basically brought what they wanted or what they had available. At no point over that 1.5hr of waiting did they said they did not have the dishes that we ordered. To give you and example, out of X3 lamb ribs onky 1 was brought. Out of x2 Lamb Shank only one was brought. As for the rest of the dishes ordered they bought like a mix platter (which was not available on the menu). When we asked the women (owner) she said that the waiter took the wrong order. She was not apologetic nor did she have a good attitude towards the whole situation towards us. We did not get the option tobget our original plates as we were approaching closing time. Also, after waiting for so long and receiving the wrong order the food quality also let us down. The quality as well as the service was very poor which is a shame as I recommend this restaurant to friends and family in the past. Additiinally, when the bill was received, we were charged for our initial order (which apparently the waiter took wrong). When challenged, the owner was angry and adjusted the bill. However, we ourselves did not know what we got on the table so we were unaware of prices etc. So, we were excessively overcharged for what we received on the table. I was so annoyed at this point as I was so embarrassed at the poor servie and food that was provided by the restaurant specially as I was hosting some guest over from another country. So dissapointing and very unsatisfied with everything on my visit. This is certainly not a cheap restaurant to go to for a party of X7 people. The price did not match the service nor the food.
Will definitely not recommend it again. There are other options in Lewisham itself and you get better value for your money and quality. I dont think they will get the order so wrong and on top of that overcharge you for food that you initially...
Read moreFrom the outside place looks classy, with nice seating, a waitress service and decent cutlery and crockery but that's about it. The food was sub par. We ordered a meze platter, what we got was a tablespoon of each cold meze on a single large plate divided by slices of cucumber. I think i was too shocked to remember to take a photo. The 7 spoons of meze were OK standard fare but sadly lacking in taste and flavour. Is salt taboo? Or seasoning of any kind too costly. Considering you're being charged £22 for it they should be able to try adding some. Esme is generally standard as part of meze but Payiz owners think of it as pots of gold. When we asked to exchange it for one of the meze they refused. And that's why they get to charge you £8....hmmm definitely pots of gold. Ordered the combi andana kebab and chicken. The kebab arrived 10 minutes after the meze, cold, burnt and like meaty rubble instead of medium chopped mince. When I asked why it was cold ? Because I had ordered it along with meze and cook had stuck it on the mangal at same time. Is it rocket science to serve food gradually? Ordered a mocktail which would have been fruitfully refreshing had they not stuck a dose of sweet n sour. Why? At £10 that was just appalling. Ordered a virgin pina colada to drive away the taste. The good things were the salad and the freshly cooked pitta. The golden eyed waitress was exceptional attentive and prompt. They have a lunchtime special but not enough to tempt me. I hate leaving a restaurant still hungry but that says it all. I generally look around to see what others have ordered. What was telling was that they left large amounts of the food uneaten. Good disability access. Marred by poor...
