I recently had the misfortune of trying the chicken burger and chips at this place, and let me tell you, it was beyond disappointing, a culinary tragedy . The chicken was so dry it felt like chewing on cardboard, and it had zero seasoning—just a bland, sad piece of meat that made me question how anyone could make let alone serve this catastrophe. Not only was the chicken dry but it tasted like it had been sitting out for days and left a questionable aftertaste in my mouth. The bun was stale and crumbled in my hands the second i picked it up , making it impossible to eat.
Not to mention the mayo, and it too was a complete disaster. It had a questionable sour taste that was just off-putting and left a horrid aftertaste that lingered way too long. To top it all off, it was served in a bottle instead of sachets, making it messy and impossible to control how much came out, forcing me to poison my already terrible burger with this wretched condiment. Instead of enhancing my meal, this mayo completely ruined it. I was really hoping for something tasty, but instead i was cursed with this god awful meal. If you could even call it that
Furthermore the wait time was horrendous, excessively long. I was left waiting for what felt like an eternity before anyone even acknowledged me. It really tested my patience. To make matters worse, my chair was wobbly, which made it uncomfortable to sit and enjoy the meal. It felt like I was constantly trying to balance myself, always moments away from the floor. It was super distracting. The long wait and the unstable chair really put a damper on what was already a horrififing experience
And to make matters worse, the meal was scorching hot! The chicken and chips were like fiery lava in my mouth, burning my taste buds and making me regret every bite. It was as if they tried to compensate for the lack of flavor by serving it at a temperature hotter than the sun. Talk about adding insult to injury! This whole dining experience was a complete disaster from start to finish. And i would not wish this on my...
Read moreAVOID IF YOU HAVE AN ALLERGY OR FOOD PREFERENCE. Recently the service has declined greatly. The last time I went the server was on his phone the whole time and despite repeating my order three times, got it wrong. I didn't notice until home so figured, my bad, mistakes happen.
Today, I went with my partner again and he asked for a burger with no mayo. We popped out then came back to collect the finished order and he checked his burger which had mayo. They were busy so we figured mistakes happen. I stated that he has an allergy to mayo which is why he asked not to have it. Another server (manager I think) apologized and said he would sort it out. He kept saying he would "get new bread" which I thought was odd but as I had stated about the allergy thought I just misunderstood. 5 mins waiting and we get the burger again; I suggested my partner check it and we found the same chicken breast with mayo simply scraped off and the chicken put on a new bun. Partner went back angrily because we had said he had an allergy. Scraping the mayo off doesn't nullify his allergy. The manager became belligerent because he had scraped it off and "only a little" was left. My partner did get upset and swear because had he not noticed he could have had a serious (hospital worthy) reaction. The manager eventually said he would make a fresh burger. He then made a rude comment to his co-worker in another language. He did not realize my partner speaks this language also and when he said "I can hear you" the manager went quiet. We won't be going back and I'd advise anyone visiting with a food allergy to go elsewhere because they will...
Read morePerfect Fried Chicken is mostly perfect on every visit.
I have been eating it for years but sadly the Perfect fried chicken on 239 Mile End Road closed so I have had to go to other branches.
Sadly, the food scene at Stepney Green has changed, the Perfect Fried Chicken on 239 has been replaced by Green Pepper and a few doors away you have German Doner Kebab.
Towards the Mile End side, there is a small Kentucky Fried Chicken as well as a YiFang drinks stall.
Recently, another Asian grocery store opened called Food to Go near Ifor Evans Place.
Anyway, by chance I discovered a Perfect Fried Chicken joint in Croydon and they offer some light meal deals like ribs and fries, wings and fries etc for around £2.
On the first visit, had the ribs with fries.
The ribs were a bit sweet but the fries were so comforting as they tasted consistently like the ones at Mile End.
They were fried from frozen when ordered so they were golden yellow and evilicious with mayonnaise.
I don't know what brand they use but the mayonnaise is light and creamy.
On the second visit, had wings and fries, again the fries were amazing while the wings were very spicy.
The only thing I found different was the chili sauce.
Hoping to go back again for...
