Abhorrent behaviour by staff.
I came here with some friends over the weekend and we had a prior booking. At the entrance, 3 female staff stood behind the welcome kiosk gossiping. When we arrived, they looked at us then turned their backs to us to continue gossiping. This went on for a few minutes, and we eventually decided to sit down at a close table.
About 10-15mins after we sat down, one of the girls approaches us to tell us that we must leave the table in 20mins due to another booking. I explained that we cannot be expected to leave so soon as we have a reservation. She then asks us why we didn’t inform staff on entry, and I explained that her colleagues outright refused to acknowledge us despite looking directly at us when we were waiting to be attended to. She then relocated us to the table that was reserved for us.
We continued to notice multiple issues throughout our stay. For example, when we would go to the bar to order drinks, there were 6 staff members stood behind the bar (some of them WERE DRINKING BEHIND THE BAR) and they all outright refused to serve customers except for one lady. I have personally worked as a bartender in the past and this level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable, and considered to be misconduct in some places.
Also, one of my friends had an issue with the mobile payments for food orders and the staff were useless- told us they would come back in 5 mins, and proceeded to ignore us for the rest of our time there.
I have to say this was by far the worst experience I have had at a venue such as this, and I am deeply disturbed by the shocking recruitment standards that seem to be accepted here.
Never in my life have I been outright ignored by staff when I have arrived for a booking at a venue. This is disgusting behaviour that has no place in the world in 2025, especially not in a diverse and multicultural city such as London. The managers/owners should be deeply ashamed of themselves. We will not...
Read moreGreat atmosphere, but absolutely shocking service. Asked on arrival if needed reservations, was told no. Bought drinks and sat at a table (not a single table had a reserved sign on) After 15 mins was told ‘you need to move from this table now’. Turns out, despite no signage, no mention, no one at the front entrance, you HAVE to have a reservation to sit at a table. Spoke to the hostess at the front and was told it was my fault and that I should have a reservation. Asked if there was a table available and she told me in 15 minutes. So no where to sit to finish my drinks, despite a half dozen empty tables. She was extremely hostile. Male host at the podium seemed understanding. Moved to another table and was promptly kicked off by same hostess. ‘You need to move now’. No apology or acknowledgement of the interruption. Downed our drinks and left. Spoke to the security at the front and asked if someone asks if reservations are needed, to tell them yes if you want to sit. Was polite and wanted to help the situation with them. She then appeared and barked at me again. Told me I refused a table. The security staff were very polite, although did say it was ‘common sense’ that reservations were required (even though every restaurant, bar and cafe in the country has reserved signs or has at least a ‘wait here for a table’ sign at the entrance) She was incredibly rude and condescending, wouldn’t make eye-contact and refused to acknowledge that the error was the bar’s and not mine. From the very outset she was antagonistic, even when I acknowledged that me making a complaint wasn’t the best thing to hear. I get that it had only been 2 days open, but seriously, have common sense, common courtesy and the decency not to be hostile to people who haven’t done...
Read moreHave celebrated my birthday at Pergola in Brixton branch Saturday 27th July. The event was planned with plenty of time and when i popped in the Venue for a drink about 2 months ago, i fell immediately in love with it! I thought this was the sparkling and bubbly atmosphere i was looking for. If you don’t feel like this, it’s not the right place for you and avoid to waist your time writing unfair reviews which can ruin the fabulous image of this place. If you think the venue is too loud just go to the church or to pray in a mosque because this is a place for happy party people not for boring ones. Behind all of this there’s an excellent team work and I found all the people working at Pergola making their best to deliver an excellent customer service . My compliments go to Sean for having be able to coordinate his fabulous team. The place is busy, but despite of this We didn’t have any problems with getting the drinks pretty fast. My guests and i have been treated amazingly. We received an excellent treatment, Starting from the securities at the entrance and finishing with the waiters and management upstairs! I highly recommend Pergola Brixton which is the Venue of the year in south London. Many...
