Here's a note I just submitted to the Pizza Express website: Dear Pizza Express, We are regulars with our 3 kids at the Dulwich Village location. We've probably been 5 times since December. Tonight we had a really disappointing experience with the manager that makes us feel very hesitant to come back for a while. We ordered our usual: nicoise salad and a number of pizzas. When the waiter came to clear our plates, he asked if everything was okay with our meal. We told him the fish in the nicoise salad was off tonight and there is possibly something wrong with the tuna. He said he's bring it up with his manager. First he came back to say they would take the salad off the bill. Then when my kids were in the bathroom, she came over and asked me a series of questions about our salad. First, why did I wait so long to bring up the issue with the issue? Second, if the salad was off, why did we eat as much of it as we did? By now I was very annoyed and said if the concern was giving us the salad for free, she was welcome to leave it on the bill if she did not believe us that there was an issue. She later came back and said she would give us a £5 discount instead of taking off the entire salad. This was because in her mind we had eaten that much worth of the salad. We asked her to come back later and told her the entire interaction was extremely disappointing and made us feel very uncomfortable to be interrogated like that. She was very defensive. When we walked out of the restaurant, the waiter who had served us was very sympathetic and came outside to apologise. He said he recognised us as regulars and thought it was a shame this happened as he believed we were honestly trying to give feedback. The manager tonight was Eleni. She is a Caucasian woman in her 30s with wavy blonde hair. I asked for her name and said I planned to send an email about my experience. I was very clear how disappointed I was about feeling like we were not trusted about our feedback about the fish. Read moreWhen we arrived they had gotten our table reservation massively wrong, 7 seats for 6 adults and 4 children. Never mind though they quickly moved us upstairs to a big enough table. Had that been all I'd have had a very good night. When asked if we had decided on an order, only about 2 minutes after the last of our party had sat down we asked for just 5 minutes to think first. 25 minutes later we had not seen another server, and the restaurant only had 4 other tables with people on them at this time with at least 5 front of house staff members we had seen. When we eventually made our order we checked if we could use vouchers we had alongside the set menu deal to which we were assured we could. So we ordered. Now I know a table of 10 isn't going to get all the plates served at exactly the same time but when 1 child has had their appetiser and main meal while another has only just received their starter all of which had been ordered at the same time someone has messed up. The whole meal was a shambles and the servers were unattentive and not very helpful. When the bill came they took our vouchers and gave us the bill which had not given us the set menu prices as requested essentially meaning we were going to pay the same regardless of if we had used our vouchers and as such essentially lost our vouchers. When we explained this the staff became very abrupt and unhelpful and initially refused to refund the vouchers. The manager was consulted but never came to speak to us at any point after which we had our vouchers refunded and bill made out for the set meal menu for essentially the same price. What was supposed to be a fun night out for me my wife and our friends who will very shortly all be living in different cities turned into an evening of upset and crying children and awkward dealings with apathetic staff. This is the 2nd time in 2 different pizza express restaurants that we have had such bad service and will not be going back. My advice do the same and eat somewhere where they value...
Read moreReserved table for 6pm When arrived female member of stuff popped the question about our reservation And I've said table for 2 She pointed out 3 different directions and walked off We sat down and seen the same female member of stuff giving really bad look to another member of stuff when he was cleaning the table next to us (Like she didn't like him or what he was doing) I think clients should not see these things at all She looked angry at him and behaved like she didn't want to be there Food was OKish but slightly burned pizzas At almost £20 per pizza I was expecting it to be better than pizza GO GO which is just £10 for bigger and way much better pizza ... Well I was wrong When it came to paying the same angry woman came with a bill And few min later came back with a card reader... I'm 100 % sure that she's never said thank you Good bye or see you again In fact I've tapped my card and she left receipt and walked off Shocking..
