The Real Greek — Restaurant in London

For starters, let me make it clear that we did not have a sit-in meal at The Real Greek. I had ordered food to be delivered through Just Eat - I had organised a special film night for myself and my two children. FYI, they thoroughly enjoyed Shrek.

As you can see from the photos, I had ordered that the food be delivered by 1830. I placed the order by 0900. When it had not arrived by 1900, and the app was showing that the food was still being prepared, I called the restaurant.

The restaurant claimed that the food was ready for delivery by 1844. I don't know who is responsible for updating the app, but clearly that was not the information that I had. The person I spoke to asked what they could do about it. I suggested that they might apologise at least. They didn't.

Once the order arrived, i was disappointed to find that they had not removed the mint yoghurt from my daughter's halloumi souvlaki despite the request. My daughter did not enjoy this food one bit. She stated that the chips and bread were soggy. As you can see, she left a lot of this dish. She also felt sick afterwards. My son felt much the same about his souvlaki.

As for me, I had ordered the fried calamari and halloumi fries. Apart from being cold, the calamari was like rubber and the batter was soft and oily. The halloumi fries had been soaked in too much honey. They were too sweet.

The Real Greek (Dulwich) ruined what I had planned as a special evening.

I hate leaving negative reviews, but the lack of any concern from whoever answered the phone, and the poor quality of the food, leaves me with little choice but to declare I would not recommend The Real Greek...

The manager at this restaurant is both inappropriate and rude. I and a very small group of others were volunteering at the local park to get the plants ready for the winter and decided to quick grab some lunch before heading back. We arrived and he inappropriately asked for a female of the groups mobile number proclaiming that was how he picked up females and them continued to asked for all of our ages. We quickly ordered for take away. We asked if it was ok to sit down at a table as the restaurant was empty. He agreed. When the food came a colleague suggested we just stayed sat down. When the food came, a colleague suggested we might just stay sat and quickly finish the wrap we ordered. Many staff walked passed and saw us at the table eating and also asked if we needed anything else. When the manager walked back in to the restaurant he rudely growled at us to say we need to leave it’s not nice that we are sat here and eating. We apologised and said we did not realise we could not change our minds about staying in, that we will leave immediately. He again growled rudely and said no, that we knew what we were doing and we knew that the takeaway food prices were less than dining in pricing and so taking advantage. We again apologised and stated that was not the case. He then rudely said ‘no stay, you know for next time’ which we declined the offer to remain in now a hostile environment. I stopped at the restaurant on the afternoon of Saturday 11th June with a friend for lunch.

The initial experience was pleasent, we were seated outside around the corner from the entrance, ordered light starters, water and our mains. 45 minutes after finishing starters and water, we still hadn't seen the mains; or any staff. We could see that the restaurant was not busy inside, and there were no staff anywhere. Left it 10 minutes then I went into the restaurant to find out what was going on.

A staff member was behind the front desk/till and two management staff talking to the side. I asked how much longer our order would be and all 3 staff looked at me unaware it was pending!

The lady behind the till attempted to clarify what I had ordered, the male member of management darted off to the kitchen leaving me assuming he was checking with the Chef where our order was, after 5 minutes it was clear he was engaging in conversation that was nothing to do with our order.

Further observation made me realise all of the restaurant staff were on break; eating, smoking, talking! Including the staff member that took my order.

An absolutely wasted and disappointing lunch experience. Paid for what we had (£18.05), and left.
