What a letdown. This place claims to be Italian but delivers the kind of experience you'd expect from the worst kind of railway station cafeteria in Italy—except without the excuse of being in a hurry.
The only redeeming features were the cocktails—the Spritz and Negroni were properly made. But everything else? A masterclass in mediocrity. The mortadella pizza was acceptable, but the sausage and potatoes tasted like they'd been prepped days in advance. The arancino was obviously frozen, and the cannoli filling had the texture of ricotta that had long given up on life.
Then there was the service. The woman behind the counter was impressively rude—no smile, no warmth, just an eagerness to rush us through the order. After barely acknowledging us, she slammed down the card machine like we were an inconvenience. The only hint of professionalism came from her male colleague, who at least managed a polite smile. But the real highlight? Watching her eat behind the counter while taking our order, talking with her mouth full like this was her own kitchen. Charming.
The irony is painful. A restaurant branding itself as Italian should understand that Italian hospitality is about warmth, quality, and pride in what you serve. Instead, we got disinterest, reheated food, and service that would get you fired in Rome.
Final thoughts: Stick to the drinks, avoid the food, and pray you get the guy behind the counter instead of his...
Read moreDon’t like leaving bad reviews but the lady who should be of a wise nature was quiet abrupt and rude in my eyes . Asked if i could pay cash she said “NO!! just card “ then took payment - never got receipt - not was I asked about a receipt
Just didn’t feel welcome . Happens to me a lot in london as I don’t dress the part and are judged on appearance .
Just waiting for my tea . Let’s see if that comes out any better .
Not bad sandwich tea bit overpriced if you ask me .
Service is everything and the service I experienced today especially from G wasn’t the greatest but R was nice and by the end of it I felt a bit better to spend my hard earned money.
Please anybody of COLOUR dressed a bit scruffy the service might be different as to someone of EUROPEAN (French,Italian,Spanish) heritage .
It’s sad but I experience this everyday in london and outside of london. The only power I have is where to spend my money
P.S
Had to re edit as there were too many grammar mistakes . Was very very upset with having to leave a 3 star review. I just didn’t feel welcome...
Read moreI’ve really tried with this place but have had enough. Despite it being much closer to where I live I would rather walk the extra 5 minutes to the Pear Tree at Greenland Place where the staff are respectful, exceptionally friendly and knowledgable.
The coffee here is average and the payment/check out process is chaotic. One never knows where to stand to pay, but usually ends up being “on the wrong side” (even if the person in front of you just paid).
There is a particular female employee who enjoys barking orders in an abrupt manner and insists that the customer go to where she is...all very bizarre and reminiscent of the service one could expect in a busy Italian train station.
If that’s your weekend/ after work...
