2 weeks opening review
I finally got to try Popeyes'a chicken without travelling to US, even though they do have a branch in Stratford Westfield.
FOOD I ordered tender strips and got free x3 wings, as well as another tender strips with x2 spicy tenders.
I was very disappointed with the taste of the spicy wings as they were very salty, I don't know if that's how its meant to taste but that's not right with the amount of salt. You actually need to eat it with a sauce or salad to negate the saltiness. The spicy tender had the same large amount of saltiness. However the classic tender contained less salt but I couldn't really taste much special to the classic tenders.
I do like the breading though, it was nice and tasty. The moment I tasted the first bite of Popeyes which were the wings, it reminded me of KFC however kfc has a distinctive taste that is better.
They serve different sauces and I'm looking forward to trying some of the rest, the ones I ordered were the ranch and spicy red honey. I was annoyed that the red honey was just a more spicy version of sweet chilli sauce. Couldn't taste much honey.
SERVICE Service was fast, there were a little queue for those trying to order, I placed my order online before hand. When I clicked on "I am here", my order was ready within 5-6mins which was fast.
The place looked clean, it has a toilet for customers as well. As for disability, it is straight floor without ramps or pavements. You cannot order from the counter as you either need to place the order online or at the kiosk machine.
Staff were nice, no complaint, no rudeness.
£10.99 for 8 strips with 2 dipping sauce. Also promotion included either free 3x wings or free 2x tenders. I believe the portion and price is filling.
ATMOSPHERE very busy, which is a good thing for the corporate. I went around 12pm on Saturday and it was very busy. In fact each time I pass by, the place is always busy, with delivery guys and customers, this is even evening time around 8pm. They even have a queue barrier to maintain the length of queue.
At the moment, the place is new, so it is quite busy for Woolwich with competition from GDK and Taco Bell.
OVERALL I was particularly not impressed with the meals I tried. I would be looking forward to trying the classic burger, as I am afraid the spicy burger might also be salty as well. I want to try the scone looking bread and their milkshake.
Price is decent, but taste needs working on. I was full up with my portion as I couldn't finish it, unless it's me because I had cereal earlier and also currently changing my diet.
I recommend you try Popeyes next month and see how the service has changed or improved. At the moment, the amount of salt in the spicy menu...
Read moreFor the past 5 days I have not been able to stop myself from eating at popeyes, not only because of the flavourful menu which I have had a chance to taste in all its tasteful glory but also because of the hospitality of the staff.
At my arrival I was greeted by Jacob with a lovely ear to ear smile which I adored and was guided by another member to the till to order.
My order was taken by Racheal and honestly it was the best experience I’ve ever received, as exaggerated as it sound she was truly amazing.
With her welcoming smile and witty comments she truly made my night, and just to top it, her food recommendations lived up to her honest reviews which I really appreciated.
What truly stood out to me is that in each occasion I entered the store, no matter what station she was working in, she remembered me and never failed to flash me a smile and say or wave “Hi!”.
Just yesterday she asked to give me a review on the food I ordered and it wouldn’t be right if i did not mention her and her colleagues excellent attitude towards the job.
I truly hope I will see more of Racheal and Jacob...
Read moreFirst time eating at Popeyes and unfortunately, it’ll be the last.
We had just sat down to enjoy our meal when a maintenance worker came in to replace the large entrance mat. This involved lifting the old one, spraying strong adhesive, and laying down the new mat, all right next to where customers were eating. There were a lot of drilling noises and the area quickly filled with dust, dirt, and fumes from the spray, which made it really unpleasant (and frankly unhealthy) to eat.
We had to rush through our food, the burger, wrap, and wings just to get out of there as quickly as possible. We couldn’t finish the mac & cheese, chips, or ice cream, and had to take our drinks away instead.
What’s frustrating is that this kind of work could easily have been done earlier in the morning before opening or at least during a quieter time, not during lunchtime when customers are dining. It was also awkward for others coming in and out, as the maintenance worker was blocking part of the entrance.
Really disappointing experience. Poor timing and a total lack of consideration...
