Until a couple of days ago I was a Bubble Tea 'virgin'. As a new store, 'Square Bubbles', had opened in Powis Street, Woolwich, I thought I would give it a try.
The shop was clean, bright and airy and the staff were polite, friendly and helpful. After explaining that I had never tried bubble tea they asked what size container (regular in case I did not like it) and flavour/style I would like. I found the full list to be quite overwhelming so we settled on the 'classic'.
This was served in a well sealed container and an individually wrapped straw was provided and they explained that the sharp end of the straw should be plunged through the lid and the contents stirred.
To be honest I was very pleasantly surprised and found the ice cold contents to be refreshing and palatable.
On the downside, the cost is very high. The regular size as just over £4 and the large size just under £5. For that sort of money, I could get two large cappucino's from a national bakery chain just across the street.
Will I have another? Probably at some point in the distant future but not on regular basis due to the high cost.
Another bubble tea shop is set to open on the opposite side of Powis Street so competition may bring the prices down until one shop closes.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreYep Iāll respond - I used to order via delivery every week since you opened spending on average about Ā£23. I always pay for additional pudding and jelly and also the flavoured boba balls; and I ask for LESS ice, always, so the ice doesnāt dilute the drink; however, for the past 2 weeks Iāve noticed, either a āteaspoon sizeā of pudding and jelly additions or on a couple of them, no additions at all?! The extra flavoured bobaās I pay for are āminusculeā, so few are added might as well not bother adding any. And whatās up with the almost half filled cup of ice so thereās less of the actual drink...? I donāt like gimmicks and when times are hard, it makes sense to be more selective - if I donāt get the service I pay for, Iāll look elsewhere buddy - and thatās how the cookie crumbles⦠shame really.
Last week- initial review: Rapidly going downhill; it was good when it started but terrible now. Forget about paying for extras, youāll find no extras just plain flavoured milk - this place is a gimmick!...
Ā Ā Ā Read morehey! came in to square bubbles, ordered a taro milk tea, had to wait approx 20 mins if not more, a lot of orders that came in after me were done before mine and after that I got my drink. I usually don't like to complain but this does not look anything like taro bubble tea, mostly tastes of sweet milk mixed with whipped cream (also wasn't even asked if I want ice or not and what sweetness I'd like), undissolved little taro lumps in the drink made it feel like I was drinking milk with just sweet lumps. Would usually let it go as Taro tea that I had ar Squares used to be good, but after the experience of waiting 20 mins and watching people come in after me, order and get their order before me and not being asked the preferences of my drink, I really do not want to come back here.
Make your conclusions on the photo of this taro tea (thought its supposed to...
