This has been a family destination for many years and we always go in big groups and sometimes weekends after weekends.
Since the restaurant manager left to live in the US the ship started to sink fast with him gone, poor organisation and poor customer service.
Its been a year since we last visited because we were so disappointed and tonight was a exception. After waiting 45 minutes for the table to be ready, despite booking well in advance, we were then told the table was ready and no one lead us to the table, we had to find that ourselves. It was a birthday meal and we paid for the table to be ballooned and sprinkles, despite waiting 45 minutes the birthday girl had to remind them that these key things were missing.
By this time everyone was pretty much upset and annoyed that they haven't even had the courtesy to apologise and when asked to see the manager he then quickly darted off. With that we decided to leave and go to the pub over the road for the meal instead.
Before the old manager went to the US the place was brilliant and they couldn't do anymore for you, now it feels like you should wait yourself when you go, it's really sad seeing it fail.
I think this will definitely be the...
Read moreThis used to be our go to restaurant. The last 3 times we’ve been have been disappointing compared to how they used to be. The oysrers Rockerfella are delicious- I would go back for these alone. Our mains were fillet steak and sea bass. Presentation was not great on either dish. Where these dishes used to come with hand cut chunky chips and crushed new potatoes with spring onion respectively, these now come with skinny fries and fried potatoes. Nothing wrong with the food, but it’s lost the ‘wow’ factor. The side vegetables were uninspiring. Desert was a huge disappointment- poached pears with sorbet. The pears were hard, tasteless and grainy. Sorbet was ok. Complimentary chocs at the end were a couple of Lindor.. again nothing wrong with that, but what has happened to the chilled artisan chocolates?
It seems Prima Donna’s has increased its profit margins, at the expense of their food. This is a lovely restaurant with a lively atmosphere- but it used to be so much better. We’ve been going here for 25 years. We eat out a lot, but I won’t be rushing back here....
Read moreVisited Prima Donnas on Easter Sunday as a party of eleven and could not have been more disappointed with the quality of food served on the fixed menu. The Thai fish cake starter was dense and tasteless and relied on the sweet chilli sauce to give it any resemblance of flavour. The lamb was over cooked and dry this was accompanied with stale roast potatoes which had obviously been cooked a lot earlier and the vegetables especially the broccoli was again over cooked and mushy not forgetting the cauliflower which at best is tasteless as it was at this meal. The desert completed the hat trick of substandard food, hot cross bun pudding with custard was a dish of tasteless mush, not quite sure how they managed that. Would have been better going to pub for Sunday dinner at a fraction of the extortionate price charged for the set menu. This was not my choice of restaurant, any advice I can give to anyone thinking of going to this place...
