I recently moved to West Wickham from Bromley and previously heard good things regarding this restaurant and thought I would give it a try. But was very disappointed with the hospitality, service and food. I’m assuming that before it was a great place to dine but like most places as time goes by they seem to lose their consistency of keeping up the high standards they first used to provide. I’ve eaten in many Turkish restaurants and I’ve always had a mixed grill and the portion sizes have been very large hence it being called a mixed grill meaning a bit of everything! I really can’t say the same about this place. My wife ordered a chicken shish and there was hardly anything there on the plate. I would like to think that a side salad would not cost a restaurant that much however we were given one to share that was clearly old as the cucumber, carrots and tomatoes were going off. Decor wise it’s not that old and looks very pleasant. The wine list was good and catered for most tastes. With the amount of competition when it comes to Turkish Restaurants I really do feel that they need to be on top of their game and be consistent in every section in their establishment. Would I...
Read moreI was looking forward to my meal here given the very positive reviews. How disappointing to find that the very extensive menu was only supported by a very large freezer! The garlic prawns were very unusual. I was expecting fresh prawns lightly fried or grilled with a little garlic butter and a little fresh parsley. What arrived was a few tasteless thawed out prawns in a huge quantity of over rich tomato sauce with so many other ingredients it resembled a ratatouille. The fillet steak was over cooked, tender but tasteless. I asked for some black pepper and they didn’t have a pepper grinder but was passed a salt and pepper set only. The Merlot wine was good and inexpensive. The chips were cheap and of the frozen variety. Perhaps they perform better with Turkish food which justifies the high rating but I left not wishing to return. It would be much better to see a smaller menu supported by freshly cooked...
Read moreIt is with regret that I must give 3 stars for this dining experience.
We visited yesterday with a larger group and because it was Mother’s Day, the restaurant was essentially full. This impacted our service and dining experience somewhat, as we were quite close to the kitchen, there was constant running around, bells ringing etc which just made the experience somewhat stressful and not relaxed.
The food did not take long to come out, however, so that is a positive for definite. The food was what I would say ‘fine’ for the price, as most things on the menu were around 17-20£.
Overall, I’d like this visit this establishment again when they are slightly quieter, as I suspect the busyness is what contributed to some of the downsides.
Picture below is of complimentary bread with spread, which was a...
