Upon walking into Rita's, my sister and I were immediately greeted with a slew of complaints from a couple adjacent to us. They had found hair in their food but were being overly rude about it. We dismissed them as stuffy and over-bearing. However, little of we know. We expected of drink orders to be taken within 5 minutes of arriving, yet it took 20 and our mum and sister had joined us, expecting a cup of tea after a long day in southall. Which can be taxing, to say the least. We promptly ordered our drink and food orders, a mango lassi, 3 chai teas and a fake fanta. The most complicated order seemed to be the stuffed parathas. Being from indian heritage, these orders arent very complicated. However, we ended up sitting there for 45 minutes, my mum periodically asking when of food would be ready. I mean, who wants a parking ticket for a chappati? Around 12.45pm, after seeing numerous customers recieving their food before us, we decided to pay up and cancel our food order. So mum went up to settle the bill but was told our food was being plated immediately. Off back she came to give us the good news; dealing with 3 hangry girls is something else. Yet again, we had to wait. However, the 'manager' of the establishment had the audacity to come over to mum and lecture her on manners and having humanity. Never have I ever been to a consumer based establishment that hasnt put customer satisfaction as a primary goal. However my friends. This isnt the end of the story. We got up and left, due to how disrespectful he was being towards us. And decided to give of business to another patron. The poor female that was serving was told to follow us to the next diner and selfie of bill. To which my lawer sister told her she had not any grounds for payment. Sad that the manager himself could not come and settle himself. I guess that says everything. We should have listened to the...
Read moreHi came here 9/5., for a family meal . It was hubby’s birthday and we fancied cholay pathura . We got here at 6.45ish There was a group of people waiting for their takeaway order. Otherwise it was empty . There was four of us .I ordered ; Chicken curry Lamb curry Mixed grill 2 cholay bhatura Salad. And rice 2 tandoori Naans Cholay came with 2 bhatura each 3 popodum £74 A bit steep. The naan were lovely The bhatura were big size . Not fluffy . Cholay were tasty and sauce was good . Chicken and lamb curry were also nice With decent masala sauce . I didn’t eat salad as they’d smothered it with seasoning of some sort . Boiled rice was ok. It had been microwaved to heat it up. The food on the whole was ok tasty enough However the mixed grill wasn’t fresh enough literally it had precooked pieces of meat which seemed to microwaved and then tossed on the hot griddle pan.
The ladies toilets were not clean There were midgey flies around the mirror area and lots of clutter on the sink area. Like lots of hand gel and hand wash and air freshener . But there was a baby changing mat fold away rack . The toilet itself was clean . One waiter took our order and bought Us the food. But , there seemed to be lots of men coming and hanging around like they were friends of the management So in the whole our dining experience was ok. But we won’t be coming back . Because we just didn’t feel comfortable or relaxed here . I didn’t take any photos...
Read moreBeen coming here for over 40 yrs so this place has heritage so you would've thought the previous owners would've carefully vetted any potential new owners when they sold it. However it seems they didn't, and should be ashamed of themselves for selling to these new owners who are running the 'Ritas' name into the ground!
My 'go too' is the chicken tikka roll and the aloo tikki. Before the chicken used to be a rich colour, which meant a good marinating. Now it looked like it had been dipped in marinade and then washed off, and tasted as such. The aloo tikki tasted like fried mashed potato without a masala grain in sight. It took me 5 mins to get home in a warm car and still it was a tepid temperature.
Even on quiet time's of the day, there always used to be sit in diners or a que of takeaway customers, however there was only me today, so it appears the damage is done, especially from the recent reviews I've seen.
I don't know if shortcuts are being taken or if they're being cheap on ingredients/staff, or they just don't know what they're doing but they need to take the feedback seriously or they're going to lose their old and loyal customers. I doubt I'll...
