Nice place on Petty France, a lot of choice however, the hot section was lacking and was looking a bit drab when we arrived (12pm ish).
We got a pain au chocolat and an almond croissant.
The chocolat was a good size, soft and the chocolate smooth and had a good amount inside. Very good.
The croissants were all a bit tough in comparison but well covered with almonds and sugary dust so I thought I'd give it a chance and ask for it to be warmed a little to soften it up.
We also had two hot chocolates with oat milk, one with marshmallow one without and both were very nice and needed no extra sugar or honey to sweeten.
The server was nice but he started serving another customer that was being pushy in the line while he was still dealing with my order and was about to make me wait while he got her order before I even had mine, which I didn't let him get away with and said, ' look that's bad customer service finishing serving me first. He hadn't even finished taking my payment yet, let alone made my drinks.
I then told the woman she needed to wait her turn and that just because the staff are too afraid to tell her she's rude, doesn't mean she isn't!
He let out an awkward laugh, stopped serving her and went back to completing my order.
The woman literally said nothing and put her cake back on the counter.
I wasn't impressed at all. Instant marking down for anywhere that thinks that's acceptable.
I asked the server if he could warm my croissant as it was a bit hard and he obliged. I said just 10 seconds but he put it in for about 30 and as soon as I stepped to the side to let the waiting customers get served, he forgot about my croissant dealing with the pushy woman and when he eventually brought it out of the microwave it was as crispy as a stale baguette and the almond paste inside was also tough, almost chewy and crispy.
Probably the worst croissant I've ever had in all honesty.
I'd like to think that on another day, this could all be so different as the place is nice and the food has the potential to be great but, weak service let it all down...
Read moreRandomly found out about this bakery when messing round on Google Maps and I can't believe I had never heard about this bakery before when I have been working in Westminster area for the past year!
I decided to come here to grab some pastries for lunch and I got so carried away by the wide range of options I ended up buying 4 things! I got the plain croissant, cinnamon roll, Lotus Bischoff cheesecake and ham & cheese croissant and I asked them to reheat it.
It was quite a busy work day given it's right opposite to the MoJ building and loads of tourists around the area but the quantity of pastries remained at a good level to cater to the number of customers. The variety of cakes really caught my eye and tbh if I wasn't in a rush to head back to the office and had to watch out for my wallet, I would have bought so many more slices of everything!
Gotta say the ham and cheese croissant was absolutely fantastic after reheating. It's soooo flaky on the outside and fluffy on the inside and super savoury, I thoroughly enjoyed it and think I may have found myself a hidden gem in the centre of London! I also tried the cheesecake which I didn't quite enjoy to the same level, it's more like a Biscoff tiramisu tbh because of the lack of biscuit base and it's overall a bit too sweet for me. Croissant and cinnamon roll were both pretty decent, although I have to admit I didn't eat them on the spot. I reheated them the next day before eating so they might have been a lot better than being consumed right away.
Overall, this is a good bakery that's a great lunch option for me when I am in the office. I would love to come back and try other pastries and...
Read moreCute café with a contemporary décor and an incredible variety of sweet and savoury options from artisan breads and sandwiches to pastries and specialty drinks. The service was good, but the food was better. Everything is made and baked fresh daily, and the quality is fantastic. I honestly had a hard time choosing between all the delicious cakes and pastries that were available. I enjoyed a homemade jelly filled doughnut and hot chocolate in store and took a raspberry cheesecake, Biscoff cheesecake, some caneles and a few pain au chocolat to go. Absolutely delectable and delicious my doughnut was super fresh and the hot chocolate rich and creamy! Whether you have a sweet tooth or like things savoury, Royal Artisan is a great spot for lunch, a quick bite or snack if you’re in the area. Highly recommend!
