Ruby Cafe — Restaurant in London

We have been here several times before and have generally had a good experience but our last visit was stressful and annoying. We understand when things go wrong but how it is dealt with is important.

My husband ordered egg, chips with thick cut ham and actually commented when placing the order how much he was looking forward to the thick cut ham (which he had had in the past). When it arrived it was thin and wet and obviously from a packet. He queried this with the waitress who explained that they had changed the meal but hadn't reprinted the menus and basically told him to eat it.

Reluctantly she gave him a plate to put the unwanted ham on. She discounted the meal by 30% which meant that we paid 70% For egg and chips.

When our final bill arrived we noticed that we had been overcharged for milkshakes. The waitress said that the price had gone up. We asked to see the menu, eventually she showed us a menu with sticky labels over the prices, we asked to see the menu that we had been given originally. We knew that this did not have have labels on it.

Finally the waitress conceded and agreed that we had been given an old menu and that not all menus had been updated. Her attitude was that she had already given us a discount on the ham and wasn't prepared to honour the prices in the menu.

It is a shame as we won't be going again as her dismissive attitude...

My wife and I have recently started coming here on Saturdays during our daughters dance class and have to say it’s quickly become an absolute favourite thanks to the wonderful, genuinely friendly service and absolutely stunning food.

The atmosphere is very chilled and cosy with a fantastic but subtle soundtrack playing in the background. It’s a place to genuinely relax, switch off a bit and enjoy the moment in sumptuous surroundings.

The service is fantastic, nothing is a problem and everyone is focussed on making your visit as comfortable and carefree as possible, whilst also being genuinely friendly and delighted to see you.

If the service and atmosphere are 5/5 stars then the food would be 6, its amazing value for money, absolutely delicious, incredibly well presented and generously proportioned. There is so much on the menu we want to try as every time we see someone else’s dish we have to add it to the list!

I’m really not sure a review can do Ruby Cafe justice, so you will just have to try it for yourself to see how fantastic this little...

We were a party of 3. I ordered avocado on sour dough poached eggs and cherry tomatoes, and they ordered the full english breakfast. The waitress brought over our orders, and mine arrived with a tiny segment of tomato and no cherry tomatoes. I queried this and she said matter of factly they didn't have any cherry tomatoes today, I wasn't told this at the time of ordering. Also to serve up just a tiny segment of tomato instead was frankly taking the micky. On top of this 3 of the 4 eggs of my friends full english were broken with hard yokes. The plate of food did not look appetising at all, and they both left plates half eaten. When I complained to the man at the till, who was new, he didn't seem at all bothered and was just interested in payment in full. This message goes to the manager/owner of the business, we will never eat here again...
