Customers service is non existent. We used to go here a lot when they where in plough way and again when they moved but service went down hill we where last here a couple of years ago for Hubby's birthday but waited two hours for our table and food since then we haven't been back up until Tuesday night we decided to give it another go so booked a table for 7.30. Arrived for our booking and was taking to a shared table in the garden and seated. We where then left for 20 minutes in heatwave without anyone asking us did we want to order drinks so husband decided to take action and go to the bar where the bartender was quite rude when he eventually got served meanwhile I'm sat on my own for another 15 minutes waiting. During this period I had witnessed another couple be seated across from us and three different people ask them if they would like to order? And still no one came to take our food or drinks order. Eventually I managed to get someones attention to order some food which I couldn't fault when it eventually came. The staff here don't seem to have any customer service skills except for the young lady to sat down to have a chat with the French couple next to us. Thankfully we had ordered by then. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy I would of expected it to be busier tbh. I also overheard another couple discussing patients being a virtual whilst waiting for they're food. Thankfully it was eat out to help out which was the reason we decided to give it another go because quite frankly if your paying ÂŁ30.00 each for a steak on a normal night you expect much better. The only good points of the evening was the food was good and there is no service charge so dont expect any service I suppose. Sadly I'll avoid it again for the...
Read moreWandered down that way because the pub we had planned on had closed their kitchen, and I am certainly glad we did. I had the roasted lamb with potatoes and carrots, and it was by far the best food I have had so far in London, and probably the best food I have had anywhere in quite a long time.
Unfortunately they didn't have any ales on tap, but after talking beers with the waiter for a bit, he recommended a Staropramen Lager. It was excellent. The Lamb was also delicious. It was very juicy and tender, and complemented very well by the onion and garlic of the au jus. The roasted potatoes might very well have been the best potatoes I have ever had, and the carrots were excellent as well.
I went late on a Sunday evening just before they closed, and while there weren't many people there it didn't feel empty. They also had a really nice looking patio that would have had a great view had it not been raining. Despite it being late in the evening, our waiter (James A.) was very kind and patient, recommended a great beer, and pointed me towards a few more to try. He even ran about a block after me when I accidentally left my card!
I highly recommend that anyone in the area come here, and James, if you ever read this,...
Read moreWe are staying nearby and wanted a good Sunday roast. The restaurant seemed full and active most of the days they were open, but Sunday , nearly empty. We were both looking forward to the roast beef, but there was only one left (which seemed odd because there were so few people there) so we settled on one beef, one chicken.
I was a little surprised that the Sunday roast beef was a steak, and not roast beef, but steak is fine. It was very good. Accompanied by a roast potato, carrots, cabbage and beans, with a small Yorkshire pudding and a cup of mild horseradish. There was plenty of food, enough that I could not finish, and it was prepared very well.
My dining companion had the chicken roast, which was a small quarter, and the same accompaniment as the beef (minus the horseradish). The portion was enough smaller that my companion could finish hers. She reported that the chicken was delicious.
Before the meal, the pastry chef brought out some fresh baked bread, both types of which were outstanding! His desserts looked fantastic, and we selected the strawberry tart to share. The Sunday roast meal was good, but the star here was anything created by the...
