well what can i say folks, i just went in for a visit with my friend/client that im working with here in this area ie, chiselhurst , petswood etc, so we did our days work in a new salon and all that and thought lets go for a curry , so we drove about a bit and saw shaon and it looked nice from the outside, so we chatted to the waiter about how we both love a good curry and that we travel about a bit and because i come from glasgow its tough because the glasgow indian restaurants are without doubt among the best '
so we both order the chicken tikka masala which in my opinion is the benchmark dish and if they do that right they do everything else right too.....but oh my god what a major let down !!! the sauce that he said was medium was like even sweeter and kind of like sugar !!!! and watery : (
even the chicken was dry and tasteless ! but i could not believe how bad the sauce was i mean for a tikka masala sauce the usual is a nice thick rich sauce that is medium flavour , do you not agree ?
so we were not happy with it at all and the manager says well thats how it is in chiselhurst ! so my friend says , hang on mate im from only 5 miles away and this is no where near what im used too !!!!
the manager was not happy about us complaining so i paid the bill and left and did not even eat a third of it each ...really really poor food....go on make your own mind up....i swear to you that ( ANY ) tin of curry or jar of sauce was easily better than this ....never again ....should have just got a bag of crisps and saved...
Read moreI have walked past this Indian restaurant many times and have never thought to go in mainly because it looks quite dark and is sandwiched between a fish and chip shop and another nice restaurant with outside dining covered in by awnings. However my husband and I had been for a drink in a local pub and were hungry so we decided to see if it was open. It looked closed as it was dark inside. A gentleman opened the door for us and showed us to a table. Then the waiters took over and gave a first class service. They were extremely attentive without being annoying. We didn't have to wait for anything...they were well on the ball. It filled up very quickly so we knew this was a little gem in Chislehurst to eat. The food was amazingly authentic and very tasty. I wanted more but was too full to finish so we took home what we left for a midnight snack!! We will definitely return to this great restaurant that isn't full of bling, fancy lighting or fancy decor, but is clean, tidy and basic but full of charming waiters, a relaxing atmosphere and fantastic food. Nice one Shaon. See...
Read moreNOT A BENGALI restaurant, yet a friendly regular British food joint. I didn't enjoy the bland food but I understand that the flavours were altered for Western palates. Why I am writing this review is because we had really gone all that way for a Bengali restaurant and there was nothing Bengali about the food. Not the South Indian papad (Bengalis have a whole range of fried foods), not the dry powered spices packed rice passed off as Biryani (not even Hyderabadi biryani), surely not the saag paneer (cottage cheese in spinach) which is a traditional north Indian dish but has a lot more character than just cottage cheese pieces tossed about in spinach lumps or stuffed parantha (another North Indian - not the mix vegetable stuffed parantha though). Even though all the food we had, along with the options on menu, are 'Indian', none of it was made very well. I understand that the restaurant is at the heart of the local community here and I hope the management chooses a more sensitive and authentic naming convention, along with a much-needed overhaul of...
