Just really really mid. We seemed to have some kind of temp staff waiting on us, knowledge of the small menu was patchy, and didn’t bother to walk the 5m to ask in the kitchen about if the dips were vegetarian….and then left them off our order anyway. We also couldn’t get a half and half because one of the party was a vegetarian and our server told us that some days they let you pick your half and half…and some days they don’t. This was a day they didn’t. Pizza was mega slow to come on a day that wasn’t particularly busy. To keep things easy for the group we got a margarita with hot honey and pickled jalepenos. The pizza was poor. Maybe this is somewhere that I should’ve gone for some of their more exciting pizzas, but the margarita was unbelievably bland. I had to ask if there was hot honey all over it or just on the crust because you could only taste a little bit of sweetness when you got to the crust and there was absolutely no heat at all on the pizza, not even the slightest hint - I can guarantee that no one would be able to tell if it had hot honey on it or not. The base was over cooked - I love all types of pizza, thin and crispy included, and I get that people are chasing that char on the bottom, but this was just a bit over and made half the pizza pretty bitter. I think the main crime at this place is that it was just so mid. Take it or leave it. Do not deviate from your path, you’ll walk by 10 better pizza places by accident. Oh, and the amount of dipping sauce they give you is an absolute crime.

Tucked in a busy little corner between Southwark and London Bridge is the newly opened Spring Street Pizza. We came here for dinner on a regular weekday to see what the buzz was about. Can I start with, the food was absolutely phenomenal. The two pizzas we ordered were both cooked to perfection and tasted great. We had ordered the fennel sausage pizza, and the pepperoni pizza which comes with a honey chilli sauce glaze. Absolutely loved it. Below are pictured the 12” ones which are more than ideal for a one person each portion. While the food was great, the speed of service was disappointing. The operations are both restaurant and pick up so at some point it felt that orders for take aways were being prioritised over orders of people sitting down, so it took quite awhile to get our pizzas out to us. The atmosphere of the place was also quite disappointing, I appreciate that they may be going for the “NYC” pizza shop vibe, but the walls were bare, the seating was bland and uncomfortable and the tables were crammed. Add to that, you constantly have people going in and out to get the take away pizzas…to sum up, amazing things are happening in the kitchen, but now you need to fix the dining area.

For NY style pizza, look no further. This has the magic formula, getting very close to Johns of Bleecker Street NYC (rated #1 in NYC). This is the best NY style pizza in London. Forget the attempts of Alley Cats, Breadstall, Dough Hands, Homeslice, Bad Boy Pizza Society or Crisp W6. Each of them trying with a different twist, but none of them beat Spring Street Pizza! To be clear, this is not trying to be Neapolitan. If you want that then head to 50 Kalò, or near-miss L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele. Lesser options being Rudy's or Pizza Pilgrims. For the niche styles of Japes (with their 'London style' that is a gastro Pizza Hut deep pan) and Detroit Pizza London, those aren't comparable either. We found this by accident during their soft open just after Saturday midday, walking past to eat somewhere else. We were totally blown away by the quality. We ended up talking a lot with the Chef (Tom Kemble) and his team, because we were the first customers after friends/family. They're all super chill here, they are laser focused and they have big ideas for the future. I don't post reviews ever btw, how good this was compelled me to.

Tried this place recently while looking for a NY style pizza in London. The dough was perfect, thin, crisp. The flavors of the margherita however weren't quite there for some reason it was visually beautiful but tasted bland. If the owner ever sees this review and makes his way to Montreal, Canada make sure to try Welldun Pizza to see the difference. Their margherita is incredible.

For some reason we noticed clients who had arrived 10-15-20 minutes after us getting their orders before us and the hostess/manager? realized that our order was never sent to the kitchen. She was very nice about it but this was definitely the waitress's fault for never checking in on us or noticing that we weren't getting our order. Once she took our order she never returned or looked our direction our entire time there and if she would've just looked at our table to make sure we got our food she would've noticed something was wrong. Eventually after about 45+ minutes we did get our order.

I'm still leaving a 4-star review because the hostess (lady with the glasses) not only made sure we got our order once she was made aware of our situation but also took care of our bill and profusely apologized for the experience which made all the difference. Will definitely return to give it another shot next time...

Poor service and overall disappointing food. The pizza and dips were quite nice, nothing to write home about and a bit overpriced. Calling their gelato was misleading - it was vanilla soft serve with toppings of the flavour rather than the flavour (olive oil flavour gelato = vanilla soft serve topped with olive oil; cherry and pistachio = vanilla soft serve topped with artificial tasting cherry sauce and pistachios). But the most disappointing part was the service, they put another table's cocktails on our bill, and tried to charge us for a more expensive bottle of wine when our waiter brought out than the one we ordered which, once poured, he himself said should not have looked the way it did (they did not offer to bring out another of the same bottle we had ordered). The worst part was the attitude when we queried the additional drinks belonging to someone else which had been added to our bill, which led us to also ask about the more expensive wine we were unknowingly being charged for. There was no apology, just "I'll get my manager" who also offered no apology, just "these things happen". For the price of the food, it was overrated. If we hadn't checked the bill we would have been charged an...
