Borough Market is always overflowing with options (and people!), and while the buzz is fun, the weekend crowds can be overwhelming. That’s why I loved finding Brother Marcus tucked into the newer, quieter part of the market. It feels like a little escape from the chaos — calm, cosy, and with plenty of space to actually sit down. We grabbed a table outside, perfect for people-watching after a long day of work. Service was quick and friendly, and I couldn’t wait to try their famous harissa eggs. Absolute perfection. The sourdough was crisp and chewy in all the right ways, the smashed avocado and kale balanced the richness, and the poached eggs were Gordon Ramsay–level perfect. The drizzle of harissa oil with salt, pepper, and chilli flakes brought everything together — I could eat this every weekend and never get tired of it. I also loved the little touch of a brownie afterwards — such a sweet surprise that made the meal feel extra special. Brother Marcus is definitely one of those ideal weekend brunch spots, perfect for a relaxed catch-up with friends. Bonus: you can add bacon, sausage, or halloumi to the harissa eggs if you’re in full breakfast mode. Highly, highly recommend. ✨ See more restaurant reviews on Insta @EncyclopediaOfWineandDine

We dropped by after work on a Friday evening for drinks and a light bite. The cocktails were unlike any I’ve tried before and really well blended and flavourful. Lucy was our host for the evening - she was cheerful, helpful and personable, with the right balance of being able to make good recommendations without being pushy. The other waiters who delivered food to us were equally thoughtful in the way they placed the food so that you felt they cared and weren’t just dumping plates off a production line like in some restaurants. Lucy and colleagues seemed happy to work here, which creates a feeling like in the Mediterranean that it’s a welcoming, relaxed place. The food was cooked with care and attention to detail - the pitta bread straight from the oven, the calamari was crispy and soft inside, the halloumi was delicious as were the courgette and dips. We would definitely come here again and I’ve already suggested to my friends that we try the brunch based on other reviews!

After a last big day of walking around London, I could have curled up into a ball and written a Ralph McTell style folk song, instead, we decided to head out and have one last shared meal.

We chose Brother Marcus near Borough Market, sitting outside in a vibrant area that allowed us to make the most of a lovely London evening.

The vibe was relaxed, some of the older folks at the nearby tables heard our Australian accents and fired up a friendly chat. The wait staff were super helpful and funny, we settled in to what was a great way to close out our time with visiting family.

We started with a round of drinks and the Rip & Dip platter — it was a nice way to kick things off and warmed us up to the shared nature of the plates and experiences to follow.

I would say this about all the things we ordered: if you like what you read on the menu, the version you get here will satisfy.

The pan-fried halloumi was golden and the right amount of salty, the crispy aubergine skewer looked cool and had great texture and flavour. The calamari had a nice crisp batter, and the lamb kofta was full of the right amount of good meaty flavours and balanced, spiced goodness.

The staff made sure we were well looked after, kept the food coming and drinks flowing without missing a beat. The bill arrived with some little chocolate brownie bites which was a nice touch.

It’s a great spot if you’re looking for somewhere casual but high quality, where you can relax with good company, enjoy some Mediterranean-inspired dishes, and let the...

The experience I had probably doesn't reflect every visit but I can only review what I've seen. I turned up on a very quiet and sunny weekday morning, was that outside, and promptly asked if I wanted a drink twice. After that, however, I think I got forgotten and I needed to chase after a waiter in order to make a breakfast order about 20 minutes later. I got some friendly advice and ordered the Crispy Bacon Breakfast Pita. When it arrived, I was a little disappointed to find out that the bacon was in fact floppy and cold. I thought twice about saying anything but given that the first word was crispy I asked to have it prepared that way. No problem. They brought out one that had crispier bacon, and it was tasty and mild. Later I went in to pay my bill and found a hidden service charge added to it, putting a burden of social awkwardness on me to point out that my service had in fact been unsatisfactory and I would like them to waive the service charge. Again, no problem about that, once I up defeated the discomfort that that put on me as a customer. Overall, it took me about 45 minutes to get me a pretty decent breakfast snack. It is increasingly common in London for there to be hidden charges, for which I always remove two stars reviews. In this case, I'm surprised that they didn't offer to wave their fee given the several errors in service already. They said it was "A crazy morning" And having worked in restaurants I can empathise the things...

I had the most fantastic experience at Brother Marcus and could not recommend it more! It is the best meal I’ve had in London! The service was exceptional, my waiter Shan S was so joyful and made the experience amazing. I ordered the rip and dip platter, and when Shan noticed I ate all of the pita but still had leftover dip, he ordered more pita to my table, on the house! I had multiple other employees, who weren’t even my waiter, check in to make sure I was enjoying my meal. Safe to say, the service here is above and beyond. The baklava sandwich was the best dessert I’ve ever had in my life, and I’m already dreaming of going back! This will be my go to spot for when my out of town friends are visiting! Could not recommend this restaurant any more, it was truly exceptional!

Update: Just came back and brought my friends from France who were visiting, and this time we did the Marcus’s Choice and the experience was more than we could have dreamed of. For the set price they brought us over 10 dishes, and we were truly wowed. Our server Savannah went above and beyond making our girls night one we will remember forever! She made it so incredibly special with her kindness! She brought us a round of shots on the house and she really made the experience stellar. Could not love Brother...
