Custom Smoothies and a Truly Kind Gesture
St James Caffe provided a calm and pleasant start to the day. Around 9 AM, it was quiet with a nice mix of patrons enjoying the indoor and outdoor seating, and a few of us grabbing takeaway.
The staff was welcoming, and I was thrilled with my custom oat milk smoothie blended with banana, kale, ginger, and carrot—it was truly delicious.
What elevated the experience was the kind gesture from the server: when she noticed there was extra left in the blender, she offered it to me as a second smoothie, all for the price of one. This was such a genuinely nice touch, and I happily left a tip in the counter jar.

The Caffé in Shepherds Market and Le Petit on Stafford St are by far the nicest of them within the 10min walk radius. The smoothies/fresh juices are over-priced too, with a limited choice, much prefer Daylesford or Detox Kitchen. This café for me needs to step up, as the menu is limited and very full on carb, and probably only popular for the office workers on Pall Mall. The service is fantastic, genuinely kind, decent and helpful staff. Shirin especially is fantastic, and always an absolute pleasure to speak with and does an incredible job at managing dozens of people at a time.
Carbonara and chicken focaccia are especially good.
So rare to find such a gem of a cafe, especially in central London with sky high rents and a saturation of average-poor chains.
